My original location didn’t open on time on 10/10/23 and there were several customers waiting outside. I spoke with customer service and they diverted me to Allens Gulf to rent a u-haul truck then I personally shared my information to give this place extra business and they didn’t even appreciate it. The owner initially made a smart comment to me after I brought him business and also squeezed every cent he could get out of me when I returned the truck. Was an unprofessional experience for me I’ll never do business with them again

Received Uhaul with the check engine light on. When notifying the employee working, he told us to drive it anyways that it happens when the gas cap is loose. The truck started smoking before we even got it to our house. This location was extremely unhelpful in helping us resolve the issue. We were told only roadside assistance could help us even though we had the truck for less than 20 minutes. Ultimately, we had to rent a truck from the swannanoa river location to complete our move that day. The employees at the swannanoa river location were extremely helpful and would highly recommend using their service for your uhual needs over this location.

Great place to get a battery or rent a haul. These guys are always nice and helpful. They have a full mechanic shop.

Rented 6 by 12 trailer to haul 3 motorcycles from Asheville to Greensboro and back. It worked great this time. Excellent equipment, fast and helpful service, and a good explanation of the equipment usage. An overall solid and reliable experience. I recommend Allen’s Gulf highly.

As a new customer meeting a prospective business I don't believe I've ever been spoken to so rudely in my life, Allen practically yelled at me in literally a 3 min interaction. If this is how he treats a new customer he's just meeting I can't imagine what it'd be like if I'd have actually handed my car over to him to do work. I strongly suggest don't go here. Now I'm reading over the reviews and there's multiple mentions of racist actions at this shop, makes a lot more sense now I'm that reading them.

Is ok at oil changes and small projects like brakes. NOT RECOMMEND if you need some things serious done to your vehicle although he says he is a Subaru specialist. My experience has shown that he is not. Allan is a pretty nice guy although he had given me the run around.

Allen and his staff are top notch! They got our truck fixed up and it passed inspection. They're fantastic - knowledgeable, trustworthy, and helpful - what more could you want!

Rented a u-haul from out of state. Drop off at Allen’s Gulf was seamless. Allen was super friendly, Parked the truck for me, and didn’t charge me for a late drop off!

My family takes our cars there and are pleasantly surprised at the diligence and honesty we seem to get; their staff just spent a fair bit of time troubleshooting an issue that saved me a bunch of money.

I've taken all my vehicles to Allen. Inspections, brakes, you name it! I've never had a problem with the work there. They've saved me a ton of money over the past12 or so years we've been going there.One Christmas Eve my wife broke down in front of the Asheville Mall in traffic! I called Allen and his response was "I'm going now!" I did leave the car over the holiday but 2 days after Christmas it was ready. He has come to my rescue several times and gives free advise if I call. He rarely suggests extra work unless it's really prudent. (Serpentine belt was slipping and we just went ahead and replaced the water pump, since it will often fail after changing that belt...lots cheaper to do it all at once.) That's the only time I remember him suggesting extra work. For the things he can't do, he can tell you who can. I read someone talking about him suggesting that the car would magically reset...if they were talking about a check engine light issue, that can happen! You reset the light and drive it 50 miles and most of the time it will pass inspection (often oxygen sensors failing,) I had a car that did that all the time. I'd just come in tell him it needed an inspection. He'd say "Engine light?" I'd say "needs a reset" and then I'd drive it 30-50 miles, come back and it would pass.Bottom line I think they are great!

Garbage repair work. Claimed they fixed the issue on a work vehicle and nothing had been fixed. (The brake job they did literally smoked down the highway)The quote from the owner: “the proof is in the performance.”Well my brakes are almost on fire and my truck still stalls. What great proof. A perfect example of a shade tree mechanic with no skill.

Rip off artist. He booked our truck for longer than we said we needed it. Also he made us wait in line again after we’d paid until he signed more customers before he would give us our blankets.
