Avis at the airport is always my first choice when I am in town. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Wish I would have read reviews before I rented from them. Have been a long-time Avis customer, but this is by far the worst experience I have had. We rented a car months in advance, when we got to the rental counter of course they did not have the car we wanted and had switched us to a gas-wasting Ford F150, we asked for a car with better gas mileage, which they were able to give us at a higher price. Before our trip ended we had a truck throw a rock back at the windshield, chipping it. When we flew out there was no one working the rental counter so we left a note along with our keys and contact info. No one called, they charged our card and that was the end of it. We thought..... Then we got a call from Purco, charging us for full replacement of the windshield, plus over $200 loss of revenue for this Bismark Avis office and $300 administrative fees for Purco. An extra $500 in charges that are not covered by the insurance companies. Called and talked to the manager of 5 Star Car Rental who owns this particular agency. Have not talked to a ruder individual in all my dealings. He hung up on me, and told me to take it up with PURCO. They even sent me a receipt for the wrong car, we rented a Ford Edge, they sent me a receipt for windshield repair for a 2023 Toyota Corolla. Travelers beware, worst company and customer service I have ever dealt with. Might make sure your whether it is Avis or Hertz that the car you are renting is not a part of 5 Star Auto Rentals.

Terrible service. I tried changing my reservation on the app and was not able to do it for whatever reason. When I got to the counter and told the guy under the initial JL he said he was able to accommodate the vehicle I requested. Online shows $169 per day for the truck and I was charged $234 because of the time I picked up the vehicle. Had I been able to change it online, it would have been the $169, but because I was at the counter they decided it was ok to raise the price. Not only that, I rejected the fuel charge as I always fill up the vehicles upon returning, but they decide to charge me the fuel charge anyways. This is why I never use Avis. Unfortunately Enterprise/National did not have anything available at the time of my booking.

I paid $1000 for five days of a Kia! Picked it up in Denver and dropped it off at Bismarck. Ridiculously expensive. The people at the counter were great however and typically I like Avis

After landing at the Bismarck airport and finding that Hertz screwed up my reservation royally, I went to the Avis counter. A young woman named Jessie went above and beyond to get me a car right away. She was accomodating, understanding, and very personable. Can't say enough how much I appreciated her willingness to help.Side note: I will never rent from Hertz again.

Informed them of my delayed flight, was later called and told that they were not going to wait and was hung up on.

I had prepaid for a rental car after having researched that they take debit cards. When my flight landed, the Avis manager would not accept my card. They even ran a credit check. I told him I flew in from Georgia. How am I supposed to get around?! I'm stranded! He did not care and only pointed at a policy paper on the desk. (He gave me a sticky note with a number and said call this to "try" to get your money back.)I took five steps to the left where Enterprise car rental was. They were happy to give me a nicer car with four wheel drive. I even saved money and did not have to go through a credit check. I went back to the Avis manager and said, "The next time you strand someone and they ask what they're supposed to do; send them five steps to the left to Enterprise. They will help them."

This place is an absolute joke! No stars should be an option. Got a rental for a week and a half and also purchased the emergency roadside assistance which brought me to $2,000. Upon returning, we got hit with a blizzard which delayed the return date by a day. Once we reached town, we ran over a nail but made it home just in time. I called Avis emergency roadside assistance right away to get someone over and was told someone would be coming. No one came until 2 days later and yes, I called them each time to ask what was going on. I ended up calling Avis to let them know that I wouldn't be able to return the car since their roadside assistance wouldn't be here until the next day. The lady at the airport location told me that it's my responsibility to fix the tire even though I purchased the roadside insurance which makes absolutely no sense because what am I paying insurance for? Before I returned it, the worker said that my bill was 22, but when it was returned, I was charged almost 2600.

We had a great rental experience. Our plane coming in was delayedand we did not arrive until 1:00 am.We honestly did not expect to get a car and worried about being stuck in the airport. Staff was friendly kind and attentive. Should we return to this area , I know where we will rent again.Charles HotalingRocky Mount VA .

I rented a car from Avis for a business trip. After my connecting flight in Denver was delayed 1 hour on August 3rd instead of arriving in Bismarck ND at 11:30 pm on August 3rd I arrived at 12:30 am on August 4th. I got to the rental counter to pick up my reservation and was told they didn't have a car for me because I was a no show on the 3rd. I eventually got a car after much complaining and was able to get to my customer that morning. To make matters worse I was charged an additional $141 for not keeping the car for the full 10 days! The one hour flight delay wound up costing me $141 from Avis because it was technically a day late on picking it up. I will never rent another car from this rip off company!!! My flight number was on the reservation so if they looked at that they could have seen my flight was delayed! Terrible company, do not rent here.

SCAM SCAM ❗️❗️❗️ If u sign 117$ a day for 4days. You’d expect 500$ bill right? Well expect to pay 850$ because they don’t explain the 23% taxes and whatever else they charged up. Posting my bill in a few mins. Will be updated. SCAM

So I rent cars almost every week from a variety of rental agencies and the reason for this review is simply this; my reservation was set for a 9:30am pick on a Sunday I am now sitting in front of the location waiting for someone to show up to work so that I can receive my rental. I have not had any other problems with this location as my companies have always prepaid for the vehicle. This instance now has me as of now 2 hours behind on a set work travel schedule. This is unacceptable, if no one shows up to work the manager should be here as is required of their job title and responsibilities.

Car wasn't ready ontime. Price was misquoted by 300 dollars. The whole ordeal has been awful. Gas station coming back was having trouble brought back missing two gallons of gas. Six dollars worth of gas and was charged 56 dollars for a whole tank. Just so dishonest horrible company.
