The North American Bison Discovery Center, located in Jamestown, North Dakota, offers an engaging experience for families and visitors of all ages. The center features fascinating exhibits on the history of bison, including their near extinction and resurgence, as well as their cultural significance to Native Americans. A recommended 20-minute film enhances the understanding of the exhibits and can be played upon request by the friendly staff. Visitors can also enjoy the outdoor area where a small herd of bison is kept, often visible near the parking lot, adding to the experience. The center includes a nice gift shop and encourages visitors to plan at least an hour to fully explore the museum. Jamestown, known as Buffalo City, also features the 26-foot-tall Buffalo Monument and the World's Largest Buffalo, Dakota Thunder, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone traveling on Highway 94. While the area is not fully paved and may present some challenges for wheelchair users, the experience is rich in history and enjoyable for all.

It's a good pit stop right off I-94 in Jamestown! The center was very informative with plenty to learn about bison. The kids were super excited to see the World’s Largest Buffalo statue ('Dakota') up close—definitely worth stretching your legs here
