Very small with tight, curvey roads in campground. Arrived to no attendant, saw the host sitting outside asked for map there is none. Filled water tank proceeded to site 11, electric only site slopes to the rear, very shady. Very busy on the weekend. Went to take showers about 6:30 pm Sunday after everyone left, they where nasty. Also the trash areas had trash overflowing outside the cans. Host left after all the weekend warriors. Park Rangers ride the campground, you would think they could load the trash and take it out. Bathrooms need to be cleaned daily. We where one of two campers still there on Monday. Would not go here again.Restrooms: Dirty

There's a restuarant in the area for food and rentals (Hungry Pelican). There's RV spaces and other camping (reserve when available). There's picnic areas, a play ground, and swimming area. Shore fishing can be difficult here though. It's a nice area, but it's popular and can get busy.Playground: Public playground.Restrooms: Public restrooms.Dog-friendliness: Keep leashed.Picnic area: Public picnic area.

If you want to swim, DON’T come here. Lake is full of green-blue algues which are super dangerous for your health. If I would have known before I would have never booked a demo site here. Speaking of camp site, they’re well maintain and have electricity.

The camp spots are very generous. Neighbors are not on top of you. Showers and flush toilets were a ways away. There is only electric hook up. Was very relaxing and quiet with the exception of children riding bicycles with noise makers on spokes. As adults, next time I'd choose spots 17, 18, 19, or 20.

Joke of a place to camp at. Complaints about my dogs barking shariffs showed up(another joke) told us to leaf when we already told the park rangers we needed to pack stuff up at the boating dock. Didn't want to listen to us when we tried explaining things didn't care at all we already talked to the rangers. Threatening us with fines when we asked what the laws were around there with dogs. And they all laughed and joked when we were in a hurry to pack everything because we were in a hurry. Did not feel welcomed there at all and will never go back there again. First time and last last time. Gone to west and east ashtabula crossing 20 times in the last 2 years and no complaints or problems. They lost my business and money.

Full disclosure, I am biased because I grew up camping on Lake Ashtabula and Mel Rieman. However, I think anyone with a tent all the way up to a mega RV would enjoy what this campground has to offer. A huge beach, clean facilities and a friendly camp host for starters. Add a nice boat ramp with fish cleaning facilities and plenty of open water for fishing, tubing/water skiing and swimming. The Hungry Pelican offers treats and beverages for both young and old, pontoon rentals and more. Don't even think twice. Book your stay at Mel Reiman Recreation Area. You won't be disappointed.

Enjoyed my stay here with a few others, great little park with a few disappointments. Iv never had so many ticks on myself or my pets. Stayed 2 nights and lost count after about 30. They may need to consider spraying the lots. Also they seem to not trust the campers considering the hourly patrolling by the "park police". Though they where friendly it kind of made one question if the park may have a safety issue.Outside of that a bath house and water at the RV spots would be great. But not abnormal to not have these amenities. All in all I'm not sure if I'll be back.

The cows were out on the road twice in 4 days which makes this place very very dangerous. There's gun fire late at night and plenty of coyotes running around the campground area. Angry neighbors that are not happy with the Corp. I would definitely not recommend this spot for rest and relaxation. There are much better choices than this. Be careful with pets and small children.

Full-time for 6 years. Visit 20 campgrounds a year, mostly COE. While adequate, this CG is at the bottom of the list as far as CG's to revisit.

Nice campground but a little hard to get to right now there is a detour. Unfortunately an hour after we got set up and relaxing and enjoying the view we had a large group of people show up a couple sites over and they cranked up their music until almost 9 pm. So much for our quiet relaxing evening.
