1/5 - Not worth it for tourists Bell Bay was a huge disappointment. The fairways were burnt out, the sand traps were full of gravel (you'd damage your clubs hitting out of them), and there was no on-course service at all -- no drink cart, no staff around. If you're a tourist, prepare to get gouged. They charge you double the green fee and double for the golf cart. It feels like they don't want non-residents there. The greens were decent, but that's about it. Not worth the money, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Breton.

Nice, well kept course but way over priced and not worth the cost.

Fairways are awesome when it's dry out. If it rains alot the day before you won't find your golf ball in the middle of the fairway.

Lovely course in great condition. Good driving range and well stocked pro shop. Friendly staff and very friendly membership made for an exceptional afternoon if golf despite the rain. Well worth the price of admission...

I would not recommend for a Sunday roast. You can get a nicer carvery at the Toby carvery for a lot less money. The meat was nice but again no different than what you get at the Toby carvery we would not be going again. Please check service charge as this was put on the bill without knowing that there was a service charge. You should be told this before you pay as we certainly would not include this on our bill. Next time we will go to Whitehead or Belfry in littledean.

Played Sept 10/23..Great track. Fairways well conditioned, greens excellent and not crazy fast like some courses with a famous explorers name. Carrick did a wonderful layout for what he had to work with. Some great par 3s. No houses/villas lining the course. Generous practice facility, range, chipping green and putting zone. Friendly and helpful staff who made this Ontario boy feel at home. Clubhouse not yet rebuilt but came to play golf not sip beer in a dining room, and the views from the course over Bras D’Or were wonderful. You could play here a couple of times and have dinner in Baddeck for what you’d pay for a round in Inverness!!!Maybe that’s not a fair comparison but Bell Bay is terrific value and a very good golf experience. Will be back…..

Pros:- Course is in great shape.- Fun layout.Cons:- Overpriced for what you get. The twilight deal is ok depending on who is on the course (be prepared to skip multiple holes).- Black flies can be unbearable and ruin your mood for the round.- Round start at 4:00 pm on a Saturday, no starter to manage tee sheet.- No marshal on the course the entire round.- Group on the front holding 5 other groups up and not letting anyone play through (no marshal to correct this).- Half-way house abandoned at 4pm with no signage to indicate when someone might be back.- Half-way house closed by 5:30? May have been sooner. I would expect a little better on a Saturday.Overall I wouldn’t come back to this course again. The poor management takes away from what really could be a top course in Nova Scotia.

This is an awesome Tom McBroom design. Tee boxes are flat and well maintained, fairways are beautiful and the greens are pure. Would 100% recommend!

Nice layout and well maintained. Only negative was the greens are quite a bit slower than what I'm used to so had trouble with them. Staff was very friendly.

Bell Bay is a pleasure to play. Disappointing not having a clubhouse as well as no place to sit and eat and have a cold brew after a round of golf. Would have given much higher rating if these amenities were available.

Beautiful course set along a hillside. Lots of trees surrounding this course so it can be tricky in spots. I really enjoyed the elevation changes on several holes including 1, 2, 5, 8. This course finishes with four very strong holes.

We love this course. The layout is challenging in spots and some holes are just plain fun. Customer service is tops at the club. From the Bag Drop staff to the Starter, everyone seeks to ensure you have a great day. Kudos to Allen and Brad for their work in creating that atmosphere. We are long time patrons of BB. We remain saddened that the club house no longer exists, but still manage to enjoy ourselves each time we go. To say nothing of the wonderful views of the Bell family estate and the Bras D’Or Lakes that are amazing backdrops to your game - no matter your score. Try it - you’ll love it!
