Motel character with very nice staff and an excellent location that allows a beautiful view of the water. The rooms are a bit old, but clean and exude the typical motel charm.

I went to the front desk to book a room and made the mistake of mentioning I had a dog. A man that I wasn't even speaking to immediately cut in and said that there were no rooms available. This was untrue. I looked on Expedia and there were rooms available. Didn't even offer to check there either. If you're booking and have a dog, don't mention you have one until they confirm availability. It was very clear they didn't want us there with an animal. Don't claim to accept dogs if you don't want them there.

Rooms are outdated and bad smell due to moisture. Carpet is stained, décor from another era. Internet not working although you can connect. Staff is friendly. Bed was comfortable. The view is the best asset. I guess if you have a family there are amenities like a heated outdoor pool. We didn’t eat there as there are gems in Baddeck (the high wheeler for breakfast, baddeck lobster suppers for seafood).

Loved the Silver Dart Lodge in BadDeck, Cape Bretton. Great location to town and the Great Alexander Bell Museum. Food service was excellence. We had Dinner on the Patio. Rooms were clean but dated but very good value. We would recommend.

Great location but our room was in the basement with typical basement smell. We noticed couple of dehumidifiers in the hallway but still it was very stuffy. Staff was very friendly and our check in and check out was quick. Enough surface parking.

First and foremost, the staff is outstanding here!!
I had a room with a broken shower, and they switched my room right away, although it caused me to miss the bar hours. They still made a drink for me.
Also, the receptionist made a pot of coffee for me since I checked out before the breakfast was open. Not to mention the Tim Hortons up the street wasn't even open.
This place does have a better view than the other place that I stayed at.
The reason for the 3 has nothing to do with the staff:
The first room had a smell to it, the second one didn't.
These rooms are outdated and it looks like they'll slowly get upgraded if and when something breaks.
The location is a longer walk (plus an uphill to get back to the lodge) from Chebucto Street and Water Street.
If you're young, this won't matter, but if not, this may be a deciding factor.
Wi-Fi didn't work in either of the rooms. It connects, but you won't have any Internet.
Rooms: Outdated, no wifi
Safety: Nothing to worry about when staying here
Walkability: A longer walk to the restaurants than the other lodges.
Food & drinks: Rum and coke was good!

Walkability: Close to the Baddeck dock and other restaurants

Very nice place to stay. I enjoyed all the amazing views. I have 2 kids and we rented one of the chalet buildings. There was plenty of space. The only concern was the basketball net; my one child loves basketball and he found it a struggle to enjoy with the bent net. The pool area, grounds and staff were all exceptional.

Great lodge if you are staying in Baddeck. No franchises allowed in this little town, makes it even more quaint. Staff and customer service are beyond excellent.

This is a beautiful property. Not all the bells and whistles you get with a big hotel but the view makes up for it. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff is very friendly. We would stay again. You can do laundry here!!! Which is a very nice touch!

Silver Dart was a beautiful home base for a trip around Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail. The room was clean and all the staff were helpful and friendly. My only thought is that the rooms could use a little bit of an update, but I'm really nitpicking. I'd definitely stay here again!
