Bought a pre made salad for over 10$. Brought it home, had a serve by date of an additional 3 days. I opened the salad to eat it on the same day I purchased. I found the top layer of lettuce to be green and fresh but as soon as you moved the top, the bottom was very obviously a layer of old, yellow and brown wilted lettuce. Half the salad was inedible.
It was clearly purposeful. The layering was too distinct not to be.
Another cost saving measure for a company which has been raking in monumental profits since the pandemic. Shame on you, Superstore.

It's not a big store but has a decent variety of vegan foods and ethnic assortment. Like everywhere a lot of food is waayyy overpriced. Still sometimes you find good deals on fruits in season and some sales. I suppose they are doing the best they can and probably the buyers vote with their money. So if most people go for the unhealthy stuff, that's what drives the supply.
Sadly all grocery stores have a long way to go to match even the average grocery store in Toronto. What's most upsetting is that here in Halifax you can hardly find local produce. Most is from Ontario and such.

Love this little store! Recent changes to the self checkouts make it unbelievably frustrating.

A bit pricey, but they usually have a good selection. Shelves are typically well stocked. Lines can be longer on weekends unless you use the self checkouts.

They don’t ever seem to have any ready made fruit and vegetable trays or options. Every other store has an abundance and this one always seems to be empty! Staff seem unbothered and annoyed when asked why or if they’d be making any! I’ll be sticking to Portland street after my 3rd visit today resulting in disappointment!

The store has become a maze. I was going to the pharmacy as usual and they have set up corral bars with no clear entry and exit. This was extremely bothersome and is likely a fire hazard. Someone get an inspector in there.

I went there for the first time yesterday to buy a cake and it was my great experience and great customer service. And there is one lady in bakery department she is helping me to choose cake.

I went there today and purchased a stuffed pepper. I asked the lady at the deli if there was meat in it as I am a vegetarian, she said no meat, just rice. Lo and behold, after I ate half of one there was meat in it. I have not eaten meat in years, I'm pissed!

Small but has the basicsUpdate: it's now a 1 because of lack of tills open. They switched to do it yourself and now only keep 1 till open. Service is now horrible because it takes so long to pay for things.They just doubled the cost of milk now. Keep it at a 1 because of this, and the tills still suck.Update. Tills still sucks. They need more real people.Update feb 2024: Everything I wanted was, on average, $2 cheaper at Walmart. So, I walked across the parking lot. Talk about price gouging. Why do I keep giving them a chance?
