A very interesting place with a lot of books. You can walk and choose for a long time.

Probably the worst customer service of anywhere in my life. I won’t be going back, which is sad because the selection of books is amazing!

people are kind of put off by staff not being overly friendly and chatty but I love it honestly. I don’t want to be chatted up 24/7 while browsing for books. as of my last visit, if you’re carrying a bag you’ve gotta leave it up front which is fine, but just a heads up. huge selection, kind of difficult to find things but I’ve always left with a good haul as long as I’ve had the time to really look.

Still forcing people to wear masks.I entered without one as I did not have one on me - was met by a rude and disrespectful employee who didn't even offer to provide me one - just started yelling at me to get out. Not the right way to handle things. Would not recommend this place at all

The owner’s behaviour during my last visit was abhorrent. He harrassed my companion about having a cell phone out while in the store, we were both so shocked by his conduct that we will never return.

Wow ?, these people seem to be very serious on the books. I purchased a 1979 printed edition of the animal farm by George Orwell. #MisterBlair

This store is a treasure trove of amazing books and rare finds. The store feels like walking through time and you can always find something incredible.

Came into town on the off chance to find a particular book. Got there at 4:40 place was locked up and lights out even though they say they ae open until 5.Multiple visits to them in the past I have always gotten the feeling that this store wants nothing to do with, and even actively dislikes putting up with the inconvenience of having customers.I am unlikely to bother going out of my way to come back here.Pity as there are few used bookstores left in the HRM.(Check out the much smaller but much more customer friendly Capricorn Books in Halifax)

Went at 2:20, sign on the window closed at 2 for lunch, okay sure I’ll come back later. Return at 2:55, sign on the window saying closed early for holiday. Closing for lunch at one point and not an hour later closing for holiday? Very frustrating to make 2 trips out there today.

I speak for many when I say that I will take my business elsewhere. This is very unfortunate as I was really looking forward to shopping here.My family is full of book worms, and we have an ever growing library of unread books at home.We decided not to support a business that does not support their own customers' decisions.Their decision to implement masks even after the pandemic was declared over is conspiratorial and discriminating to others (and I'm fully vaccinated).Nonetheless, it is their own store and they can do as they choose, but they have lost a large demographic of customers, including my own family's.At this point, I would not return even if they removed this nonsense.

I've been here a few times, not unfamiliar with the place by any stretch. The older gentleman who I presume is the owner or manager, asked me what I was looking for when I walked in, just said I was browsing. Looked at the few sections where I typically buy something and there wasn't much variation from my last visit, so I left without purchasing anything. I was followed out after I left, by the gentleman to my car. I'm glad I was not alone and with my significant other because I'm a young woman and his behaviour made me feel genuinely uncomfortable and potentially unsafe. He told me I didn't give the store much of a chance and seemed annoyed that I did not purchase anything. I was nothing but polite to him either. I most likely will not be returning, which is terribly sad and disappointing to me, as I want to support this business, which has so many positives, but that's just unacceptable behaviour.

Very hard to find things easily, the entire shop smells of moisture, and they aren't well set up for drop in business. ( Many of the lights were out)

Have never felt more unwelcome in an establishment in the HRM. I was accosted at the entrance by the young person working there, who said I failed to read either of the signs on the door that said masks are required inside (April 19th, 2023). The last time I came here, I was offered one. I asked this person if they had any, which I was rudely replied with do you have any. Needless to say, I have never felt more unwelcome in a place anywhere in the HRM. I have shopped here quite often over the years with never a single issue. I will never step foot into this establishment EVER again.

I would like to express appreciation for the owner continuing to require masking. COVID *is* still a threat, people are dying and being disabled by it every day. We still do not understand Long COVID. The business is entirely within their right to enforce masked shopping. I could be wrong, but I do not think the shop is well ventilated. Masks are even MORE critical in such environments.

The proprietor was extremely rude. I regret buying any books from him. How he stays in business with such a poor attitude towards paying customers who finance his enterprise is beyond me. He clearly despises his customers.I wrote this review four years ago, in 2019. It's still holds true
