Avoid at all costs. We rented from them in the summer. Everything seemed fine until we returned the car. Hertz guy came to check the car and walked right to the front an said oh there are scratches. We drove nowhere that would have gotten scratches like that. He tried showing us original pics where you can't see anything. Thankfully our credit card had damage and collision insurance and they took care of everything. My guess is if you decline their extra insurance they will target you. IF YOU RENT FROM THEM DON'T TRUST THEIR PICS... TAKE YOUR OWN!!

Friendly staff and fast service. Best station I've been to. Could be the "Canada-effect". ;)

Scam. Avoid at all costs. Pickup took an hour despite there only a few people in line. When returning car, the unhelpful employee claimed I cracked the plastic headlight cover, total nonsense. The pre-inspection photos taken by Hertz are too low resolution to show anything and cannot prove that I caused any damage. Complete scam trying to profit off of fake damage reports. Save yourself the hassle.

Was extremely worried about hiring from this outlet after reading reviews but was pleasantly surprised about our experience in oct 2024.we had already booked a car through online agent and when we arrived at their reception this was quickly found and i was also told my wife could also drive car at no extra cost. did check over of car, took plenty of photos ,video and was told there were no major dents, scratches on car .imagine my worry when i stopped later that afternoon and saw some marks on side of car bonnet that could be taken as scratches .however i had photos so no worry. Took the car back 8 days later and after a quick check over by hertz they said all clear and that was that.So i can only say to make certain at check out you have plenty of photos and bring up any concerns then. Although cars are in a underground carpark just put on flash to get good photos. so can only give 5 stars

Extraordinarily bad. I was offered an upgrade without mentioning the cost. Very sneaky sales strategy. A standard free upgrade is suggested and costs can only be seen on the receipts. If you have poor language skills as a visitor to the country, your weakness is shamelessly exploited. I would never have believed the company and the employee James could do that. I got to know Canadians differently. Complaint so far unsuccessful. So be careful - don't let yourself be taken over.
Even after weeks there was no response from Hertz even though they had promised to check. I would again urge caution.

What's the point of having a phone number if you don't answer it or messages for 3 days. Shitty customer service.. when I finally drove back to the airport in order to speak to someone and said I could not reach anyone on the phone he said "I hear that's the case often".. and just shrugged his shoulders. Poor customer service!

Literally the worst experience ever. My first hint should have been that it was a “franchise”
Of course hertz is hit or miss but with gold/president circle etc. I have been swindled into continuing to use. Never again. At least a franchise.
While we arrived to turn in our car in a hurry after having to switch flights we arrived and saw all these people standing around but all refused to help as and said it must be this one gentlemen. Ok so you’re getting paid to stand and observe? This man was busy scuffling around with another gentleman’s vehicle. To say he moved at the speed of molasses would be an understatement. He putz all around the vehicle looking for every possible ding and scratch he could plausibly find.
Finally he got to our vehicle and went around and took a light to all the windows. He “found” a scratch or scuff” not even a crack of the glass and gleefully informed us I’ll get you a deal and only charge you $440 to change the windshield as opposed to a $500 deductible.
Wow so generous of you to price gauge at the highest possible price to replace a windshield. Nevertheless when I check out the vehicle- no upgrade despite the highest hertz status, I looked for damage however I do not carry a flashlight on my person, my mistake for not inspecting so rigorously. They clearly take great joy in finding damage and charging folks an arm and leg. Perhaps it’s a broken system that allows for franchise owners. Regardless my gut told me to go with Avis, so friendly so helpful when I saw them in that terminal. This will not be a mistake I make again.

Got a smaller car as rented. Just excuses, no compenstion. And the rented car type was in stock as well.

I got a car according to my convenience at a very tight schedule with a good price. Employees here treated me well and i loved their service. A special thanks to the management for arranging the car at such a short notice.

Scam. Super rip off. Be careful. They will blame every tiny bit of scratches on you.
On the inspection pictures they took it clearly showed the tiny windshield damage was there when we picked it up but when we returned it they denied it was there and automatically charged us 440. You have to be super careful with this scamming company. They will rip you off and rob you blind. Now we have to go through head office to fix this scam. We were wondering why their counter was the only empty counter. Noone was there but it took 1 hr to pick up our car. They changed 3 cars before we were able to pick up a car. First one need a set of tire. 2nd was being cleaned. Third one flat tire. So after an hour the 2nd one was finished being cleaned. They gave it to me full of soap foam and water marks. In a dark garage so u can't see the conditions of the car. When u return it they will go though every tiny scratches and bill you for it. I have been renting cars for 15 years in many countries. Never experienced this type of scam. Stay away.

In short: My experience feels like a scam and I am done with Hertz. Rent at your own risk.
I returned a minivan to this location and the Hertz agent who checked me in did a thorough walk around the vehicle. He stated it was in good condition and I got my final bill. Good interaction. Nothing out of the ordinary.
When my flight out of Halifax landed I turned my phone on and received an email from the same agent that stated after I left they found damage to the car when cleaning it and that I am being held responsible. The incident report includes pictures that do not show the damage in question and include only "Putting into the plastic of the windshield" as the description.
After going back and forth with Hertz over a few weeks they are telling me that they do two inspections of the car, the second being during the cleaning process and after the renter leaves and the vehicle is in sole possession of Hertz. Sounds like a good way for Hertz employees to avoid accepting responsibility when they accidentally damage a vehicle.
I worked for Enterprise and know the importance of the walk around of the vehicle at the time of return. Never have I tried to pin damage found on a car back on a renter after they left and handed in the keys.
Not that it matters but I am a Five Star member and have rented exclusively from Hertz for 10 years. Now they're saying they're sending my balance to collections if I don't pay the 1,000CAD for non-existent damage.

We contacted Hertz 5 days before our pick-up date to inform them that we needed the vehicle 4 hours earlier. We were told that would not be a problem. When we arrived, we were told that they did not have the vehicle we reserved and that all they had was a larger one and it would cost $20 more per day. What were we to do? Walk to our destination? We signed the contract as we were told they were not informed of the earlier pick-up. The vehicle's window was so dirty, that when we left the parking garage we could hardly see through the glare. Also, there was not owner's manual so we had to learn all the different nuances as we drove. When we got back, we commented on the extra charge and were told that we would have to take it up with the Hertz Canada as that is who we booked with. The customer service line we used for Hertz Canada made us wait for over 20 mins. and the person we spoke with obviously did not like their job. Very shoddy customer service. We should have rented from another company.
Since making this post, Hertz has contacted me and offered to reimburse me for the upgrade price. This is what I had been asking for. Will update when the money has been transferred to me. Thank you in advance Hertz.

On going issue since my rental on June 21 no issue with arriving and getting my vehicle however they took a payment of 1198.xx for the cost of the rental and the security deposit. Not as a hold but as a payment, was told when the vehicle is returns I would receive a final receipt and have the security portion returned. After waiting two weeks the charge was still there and nothing returned. Been going in a loop with hertz who claims they cannot find anything under the booking ref # and the airport location says that booking was cancelled. I had the rental I paid for it and the fee is still sitting there collecting interest and no one has a clue what's going on. It's embarrassing. It's been almost two months and I'm about to dispute the charges as fraud.
Garbage a** company.
