About Halifax Lancers
Halifax Lancers is Canada's only urban non-profit riding school, founded in 1936 to make horses and riding accessible to children in Halifax. Today, it offers therapeutic, junior, and adult programs serving nearly 200 riders aged 8 to 70 with diverse abilities. The organization focuses on helping riders build confidence, responsibility, and community-mindedness while supporting their physical and mental health. The welcoming environment promotes teamwork and inclusivity among all riders. Visitors often admire the gentle, friendly horses and appreciate the kind staff, who offer tours and share the history of the facility. The horses are well-loved and calm, making the space ideal for animal lovers and riders alike. Halifax Lancers is a cherished community resource, run by a dedicated board of parents and riders, with horses owned by the organization. Donations and visiting are encouraged to support this wonderful, inclusive space.

It was a thrill to spend time at the Halifax Lancers today. Although the weather outside was cold and rainy - the riders radiated warmth through their shared love of horses. It brought me back to my Pony Club days. Thanks to Willow, Jessica, Nana Jan and Cunningham for letting me spend time with you.

Took my daughter to a summer workshop. The staff were all lovely and she loved the Learned to Groom workshop. Getting to see the barn, learn about the horse and of course getting to interact and groom one. Such a wonderful experience!
