Turns out you can't return anything you bought online to any store in Nova Scotia. How convenient for them. Looks like it's Kent and Canadian Tire for me despite Rona being down to the street.
I should be more specific. I was advised that all of the Rona stores in Nova Scotia are privately owned, and I can only return or get a warranty from an online purchase from a 'corporate' Rona.
Be warned -- don't bother buying anything online from Rona.ca unless you are 100% certain that you'll never return it, or need to access a warranty, as you cannot do this in Nova Scotia. I have been told by store staff that this is correct policy for returns or warranty claims. (Updated)

We recently called the store and then travelled there to make out purchase. The staff was friendly and helpful from start to finish. We well travel there again for this customer service.

I previously gave this store a negative review. Necessity brought me back and it was night and day different. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Store was very clean. Recommend you give it another try if you had a bad experience in the past

My go to hardware store! Everyone is always extremely helpful. Most recently they helped me get the materials I needed to make some transport tubes for some large rolls of paper at a much cheaper cost than I initially thought it might be! Also as a woman in a hardware store sometimes you can feel talked down to but every time I’ve been in the staff have been super helpful without being patronizing.
