It was not about this specific branch, it was about the TD policy being ridiculous.
I recently got married, so after my honeymoon, I called Nova Scotia Vital Statistics and ask what should I do with my name change. They told me I can use my marriage certificate to obtain name change with the bank and change my driver's license, SIN, etc.
I first went to RBC and they didn't question anything, just say congratulations and took my marriage certificate, changed my name for me.
When I went to TD, the banker insist that I must have a legal name change certificate. I tried to explain 3 times that I would not receive one, my marriage certificate is my legal name change certificate and I want my husband's last name that's all.
The guy tried so hard to tell me my marriage name is not my legal name, he went ask his manager 2 times and every time he lied to me he will be able to do it, just need to grab some paperwork for signature. He end up telling me he cannot change my name for me. Even though by law, I would get a new legal name the day I am married. I got frustrated about this, then he told me I must change my driver's license first then I can change my name on my bank account.
So I wait for several weeks until my new driver's license is in, then I take my driver's license to TD again. Of course I was asked for a legal name change certificate again. I told the guy I don't have one, I only have marriage certificate. And I show him my new driver's license and a photo of my marriage certificate. I was told that I need to bring my original marriage certificate to the bank, which the first guy didn't told me, he told me I need my new driver's license with my new legal name.
So now I will have to make another trip for a simple name change.
I don't understand why this has to be so difficult with TD, who would lie about them being married? Is it not a common sense to your guys that after marriage people change last name?
Most of my family members canceled their TD bank account, if I didn't have GIC with you guys I would do the same, poorest services among all banks with no excuses.

ATM needs to be 24hrs. What’s the point of having a public ATM if it’s only open during business hours? Folks that work regular jobs need reliable access to their money, especially when paying obscene fees to even have an account here in the first place.

ATM doors locked for four days straight. Happy Holidays eh? Would love a justification for why you still charge fees when there is so many no-fee banks operating now.

There over the phone service is useless, it’s basically impossible to get on the line with someone and they most of the time have no clue what they are doing

I really like the response from the staff. Please allow me to describe the situation here. I returned to Halifax recently. After being away for almost three years, my debit card was expired. The staff understood my situation and provided new debit cards instantly. Fortunately I had old debit cards with me. I even did not have access to my old mail box. I really thank the staff in order to act quicky and be so nice n kind. Please continue to keep up the good work as you always do. I am very thankful to the staff for instant help.

I typically had a fine experience at the bank but had a terrible experience with them trying to get a mortgage. I was pre-approved and began house hunting, and had my offer accepted. The bank cut my mortgage in half the day my financing conditions were due. What a stressful and disappointing experience to be lead on because someone could not review my financial situation properly. Tellers at different branches were mortified on my behalf, but I never received a follow-up or apology from this branch.

Nice bank with modern interior. Tellers have seats for a more comfortable experience. Friendly staff overall.

I had a very bad experience with TD that I would like to warn people about. Someone illegally altered my check - the person simply added a “1” in front of $707.80, and even kept the written amount as “Seven hundred and seven dollars eighty cents.” She successfully deposited the extra $1000 dollars from my bank (TD.) I showed TD bank the evidence, including pictures of the check, and no one cared. I am shocked that TD bank did not compare the written number and writing letters before cashed my check. I called customer service, and all calls were never answered or dropped each time in the middle of the conversations. Finally I got through to TD customer service staff, and they talked to me and told me every day they had a lot of checks to process so they don’t have enough staff to review each check. TD, if you cannot handle the amount of checks, then why are you letting mobile deposit & deposits through the ATM? You clearly cannot commit to basic security reviews, and you just let your clients’ money be taken illegally by others. TD did absolutely NOTHING to help address this situation, and I’ve been a TD client for more than 11 years!! I do not recommend TD Canada Trust.
