From Wallace and Area Museum
The Wallace and Area Museum is housed in a heritage home built in 1839 by James B. Davison. Together with his brother David, they operated a successful shipyard on the property's waterfront that, at its height, built 6 ships a year. The property was donated to the province of Nova Scotia in the 1990s by John F. Kennedy - the last living member of the Davison line in Wallace. The Wallace and Area Museum Society, in partnership with the province, opened the doors of the Museum to the public for the first time on June 27, 1993. Further renovations and the addition of an Annex in 2004 and waterfront picnic park in 2019 have enhanced the property and our ability to accommodate large groups interested in visiting the Wallace & Area Museum.
