Don’t sign up for Spot Pet Insurance (run by this company.) It is a poorly run scam veiled in marketing. Spot has awful, inconsistent customer service and will run you around in circles for them to get documentation. Then they will lose this documentation, and ignore your emails for weeks. I have to imagine this poor management of Spot is reflected in PTZ’s general services as well. AVOID!

They don't reimburse but a small fraction of anything you have to pay out of pocket - by the time you pay their high premium - you lose money.

I am on my second year of Accident + Colic Coverage for my 4 horses and recently added Accident + Illness for my two cats as well. This is my very first claim in that time.My horse recently sustained a bone chip that unfortunately became devitalized and turned into a sequestrum. Super straightforward accident/injury, right? Wrong, apparently. My claim for radiographs and antibiotics for the injury was denied, for reasons unknown. Garbage customer service, garbage insurance. If I could leave 0 stars, I would - I will NOT be renewing coverage.

I have been using ASPCA Pet Health Insurance now for over 10 years and with two different dogs. Never had an issue and they work quickly to reimburse you. They have saved me many times. The best is the personalized service. Not only did they help me with my first dog's many ailments, but when it came to end of life, they were amazing. Even sent me a card after my dog passed. My current dog has a lot of health issues and they have been quick to reimburse and it's easy to follow along on the website. Just recently I had a huge bill to pay and submitted my claim. Their website stated that claims were taking longer than usual so I called and talked to a representative. Told her this was a huge hit to my pocketbook, etc. and they helped move it along a little quicker for me. It's really a great insurance for your pets. Will use it on my next pet too!

I've actually had this insurance on three dogs for many years ,and to me !! it's definitely not worth the money .I paid a lot of money every year for 3dogs ,and got very little out of it .the older the dog Got ,the expensive the insurance cost. You submit claims and they say they're hereditary so I'm very disappointed that I waited this long to cancel it

They are considering an ACL tear pre-existing because she tore her other ACL. This is an unfair practice. Do not recommend.

Unfortunately. This company is awful and all affiliates. They charged me the "premium" rate in November of ~$120 with a 90% reimbursement. I changed to a lower rate afterwards with an 80% reimbursement. I had a claim during that month and they did not pay me out at the appropriate 90% for the amount I paid, nor did they give me the $50 back for the new and cheaper rate. I was kind enough to say they could pick which of the two options they preferred. Unfortunately by not doing either option they stole from me and will be filing BBB complaint, disputing with my bank and contacting a lawyer.Additionally, I am lucky that my fiance is a veterinarian and informed me that this company is indeed awful. The amount paid does not remotely reflect the appropriate coverage. There are better insurers out there, you would be wise to choose on of these options.Dr. Wines

EDIT - RESPONSE TO TRAVIS: For what reason? To be denied again? I called twice already and the last person I spoke to said any attempt at re-filing the claim would likely be denied. The flimsy reason I was denied is that a vague passing note (NOT an official diagnosis) my vet wrote during his first wellness/vaccine appt is now being counted as proof of a pre-existing condition - nevermind that there was nothing wrong with him at the time. So no thanks. I'm already shopping elsewhere. Even though he now officially has a pre-existing condition that will be excluded from coverage anywhere else, your monthly rates are already higher than other companies. Why should I be loyal to a company that is a) more expensive and b) will look for ANY reason under the sun to deny coverage?ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've had ASPCA insurance for my cat for over 5 years at this point - I got it the month after I adopted the cat. I believed it was the responsible thing to do. My monthly rate started around 20/mo and was recently upped to 40/mo. Every claim I've filed has been denied. Nothing I've submitted has even been accepted as going towards the deductible let alone reimbursed. After years as a customer, I've just canceled and I would not recommend it to anyone, because what is the point??? I've cumulatively paid in the 4 digits for his insurance by now, and I've never been able to take advance of this plan ONCE despite trying. I'm shopping for other plans because ASPCA pet insurance has been absolutely USELESS for me.

I got a cat from a shelter in 2021 and got insurance because you never know. I'm so happy I did because six months in she had a coughing problem that was concerning to me as a new pet owner. I had to meet my deductible but then got some money back. I was financially able to do more tests that I would have been able to do with out the insurance. Fas Forward to August 2022 when I noticed she had been losing weight and was lethargic. I took her to the vet and after many many tests and an emergency vet visit after she wasn't eating for over a day, I found out she had renal lymphoma. She was only 3 years old. I was devastated. After a month on prednisolone, I let her go when there was a decline in her quality of life. She wasn't eating, had trouble urinating, and moving and oral medications were making her nauseous. Once she was throwing up bile and any water she drank the vet and I decided it was time to let her go.ASPCA reimbursed 80% after I met my deductible and I was refunded for each claim within a week after submission (and there were nearly a dozen claims). Once I submitted for "End of Life Services" I received an email that they cancelled my policy for me and would be refunding my prepaid portion. ( I paid for a January to January term) They also left me a voicemail to express their condolences on my loss. I've never known an insurance company to go to such lengths. After my experience I will always get pet insurance through ASPCA for any future pets I get. They saved me thousands and gave me more time with my cat Tilly than I would have ever been able to afford on my own.

Why do we pay so much for pet insurance just to have them deny claims?! I submitted an estimate for a procedure my dog needs to see if I could afford the out-of-pocket expenses. Talked to an agent prior to submitting the claim and was told to put the date I was filing the claim and not the date I received the estimate from the vet. Now they denied my claim as a "pre-existing condition." How is it pre-existing if my dog has never been diagnosed for this issue before?! Now I can't even switch insurance companies because this will all be considered "pre-existing."Don't waste your money!

Basically stole 121 dollars from me. Purchased insurance to cover upcoming suspected teeth cleaning. Proceeded to have the cleaning and submitted the bill as noted. The dog is 13 years of age and was thereby denied coverage as it was deemed pre existing... I feel like we've gone backwards here we had to pass a law so people could get medical coverage regardless of what they had pre existing which makes sense. Wouldn't that make sense here as well? Either way I did read pre existing conditions were not covered however I had hoped by obtaining the insurance and then waiting during the waiting period would be sufficient but apparently I got the review to have the teeth cleaning done too soon which now means instead of receiving a check for the amount owed I have 121 dollars missing which could have gone toward the cost of the surgery. Just remember if you play the game correctly you can win so if you sign up ensure you go to a vet you've never been to before after the 2 week waiting period then have the dog checked out etc prior to submitting your bill. They can make this insurance work a lot better by changing it around a little bit but since they get free money likely not only from me but others who hope of getting some benefits back it will continue on as is.

I did my research and chose ASPCA Pet Health Insurance for my puppy in May of 2021. I submitted a claim in December of 2021. This claim was processed and a check supposedly sent to my address. The business had a wrong address for me, which was remedied. I have called and sent emails. The last call I made was early May, 2022, during which I was told the new check (#3) had been processed on May 6, 2022, and that I should wait a bit longer for it to arrive. I emailed to complain that yet again my check did not arrive. No response. I have submitted my complaint to the BBB.

We've had ASPCA pet insurance for over 2 years with one claim for 250 dollars. Our female husky had an broken molar and we spent over 900 dollars for the vet bill. After submitting the paperwork, they kept asking for all of her previous vet visits and paperwork. After paying over 2000 dollars for premiums, they keep asking for more! I CANCELED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND RATING THEM 1 ON YELP AND GOOGLE!

This company is a big time scam. $370 bill from Vet and they payed 97 bucks. They only pay 80% of your vet bill after there $250 deductible. Don't waste your time with this company. Their coverage is a joke. They kept sending me emails over a 4 week period telling me that they needed more information when I had submitted the invoice to them twice. I ended up telling them that I would be going to the BBB if they didn't start to get their act together. Then the next day they gave me my supposed 80 % refund after a 250 dollar deductible. I have yet to see the money.
