About Smeck Park
Smeck Park features Cruit House, a restored 1829 log-framed house, and Fetter-Hood Barn, along with a late-1800s Stover Windmill. Walnut Creek runs through this 48-acre park in northern Fairfield County. Two trails combine to make a two-mile moderate loop with steps to the ravine and through a meadow, where hikers can see ephemeral spring wildflowers, sycamore trees, and forested areas. The open picnic shelter is patterned after nearby Rock Mill Covered Bridge. The trails are easy to finish in around 45 minutes, with a large playground for children. It is a favorite spot for photos, with lots of options. The park is never overly crowded, and a tick collection station is available. Restrooms are too far from the playground and front entrance. Otherwise, it is a beautiful, well-cared-for park owned by Fairfield County Park District.
I can't wait to visit again. Everything was just lovely here and the barn was beautiful. A great place for a barn dance, I hope in the future. I visited in the snow, so I didn't get to hike, but it'll be great visiting again, and hopefully, using the firepit!

The walking paths are nice and peaceful. There's restrooms, a playground, dog friendly place. I love it here.
