We were accused of having cows that were not ready to be butchered once we complained about the small amount of meat that we received. Our hanging weight was reported to us as being 469 lbs. We have been having our own cows butchered now for 10 years. Our partner weighed her meat that was sent home with her to have only 119 lbs of butchered meat. We typically fill a freezer with a half of cow. This year filled about 1/6 of our freezer. They tried to over charge us for the processing, accused us of having cows that were not ready to be butchered and when we picked up our meat at the end of the, there were several pounds of meat sitting up on a counter unfrozen. Very young staff, and an awful smell in the office that was overwhelming. We will never bring our cows to this facility again. Harvest date on receipt of 04/05/2023. The cuts were nothing like I have ever seen. Labels that were stuck on packages falling off. No pounds of meat are listed on the receipt . I would not have even given one star.

Camden Locker = Great experience and Service. 5 stars. Plan and simple. No reason this shouldn’t be an average 4.5 stars or higher
The process was simple, they communicate with you very well when your order is getting ready to be processed, scheduled and then ready for pickup.
Okay let’s level set these negative reviews now…
I’m sure this is something Camden Locker would like to say but can’t in good spirit of being a business owner. But since I’m a customer I say it. This is my problem with people leaving negative reviews here. And for context I’m a 35 yr old dad of 2 that lives in a suburb if Cincinnati that learned about getting beef this way over the past 3 years.
I’m not sure why people feel compelled to write negative reviews especially for a small business. Those who complain are not sensibly considering the 3 types of weight Live, Hanging, and Packaged. Understand that process and have realistic expectations of the amount of beef to expect. There are several variables that change the yield, it’s not an exact science.
If you are unable to research, ask questions and clarify what you are getting than you may be better off just buying your meats from Kroger.
Sure nobody or process is perfect but if something isn’t right or as you expected, just pick up the phone or heck! talk to someone face to face. You’d be surprised how much more enjoyable life is compared to spending your time ranting on a google review trying to defame a small business because you had a bad day.
Keep on keepin on Camden Locker don’t let the digital Karens (no offense actual Karens) of this world slow you down.

Even 1 Star is too much!!! Absolutely DO NOT risk taking your beef here. I had several beef processed with them and was shorted nearly an entire beef in weight. All the customers who purchased the beef commented on how small the cuts were and that everything was less than they expected. I did the right thing with my customers, unlike Camden Locker, who claimed they did nothing wrong and were unwilling to make an amends. Read the list of complaints of people saying they were shorted. There is obviously a problem that they refuse to acknowledge or correct.

We purchased a 1/4 beef from Truster Cattle, and it was processed by Camden. It was a great experience, and the beef is some of the best I have ever had. The plant was clean, and the beef was cut per my request. The vacuum sealing was a big plus. Will definitely use both again.

My main complaints are that we had meat missing from our order, no one went over our trays with us, but most of all was the cleanliness. Immediately upon entering into the reception area, there was blood all over the floor. We could see the staff butchering the meat. None of them were wearing hair nets or gloves. The door to the locker was open. From the alley, we could see the cows laying on the ground that they were blood letting. All I could think about were the rodents that could get into that area. The entire place gave me the “ick” factor, unfortunately. I was very disappointed. Definitely won’t be picking up meat from this butcher again.
