Addition to below: As of 7/27/25, I received no return contact from the store manager, even after advising True Value corporate of the events below.
Yesterday (7/13/25) I went to 30th St. True Value for fertilizer. I was nearly bit by a dog belonging to another customer. It was not a service dog. It was a pit bull or rottweiler that I would estimate at 40-50 pounds. I had given it a wide berth in plain view, looked away from it and did not speak, approach, or provoke it. It had come at me with my back turned once I had gone past. It was stronger than the female holding its leash. When I reported I had been nearly bitten to the male (supervisor?) and female clerk and indicated their store may want to have a policy regarding dogs in the store, the male indicated there was nothing he could do. The message I received was if I didn't like what happened, then I should call the cops. These employees were dismissive of my safety concerns through this experience. They were rude when I called after leaving the store to leave a message for the manager, who was out of the store because it was Sunday. While training in handling customer concerns is clearly called for in the case of these employees, the store owner/management should re-evaluate its decision to leave a store that is open to the public in the care, control and custody of the two employees involved here. Had I been bitten yesterday, the legal ramifications via a lawsuit could have been very ugly for both the employees and the store. This store will receive no business from me in the future.

My hose broke when I got it home. Used my rewards account. Guy said come back in when the manager is there. I asked what time. He had no idea. I asked again. He said he had no idea. Then proceeded to call the cops. Talked to the manager. Asked me if I came in last night, then refused to help me. Don't go here to purchase something. Go here for advice and then leave. Some of the staff are great and helpful. The purchase experience is horrible. Prices are too high and the customer service is non existent. How do I get the cops called on me for just trying to return a hose?

On May 11, 2025 I worked until 4 PM and went across the street to the True Value to buy my mother a hanging basket. There were many sad, overpriced, wilted baskets to choose from. I chose the least wilted and went inside. There was no line at any of the registers, so I walked up to the closest one. The woman was eating what looked like a chocolate brownie, or a chocolate power bar.

Worst store ever… I didn’t have my receipt, but I used my account when i purchased it… I asked them to look it up, the man did but he really did not know how… he told me to come back tomorrow when the lead cashier is there.. like who wants to come back when the issue can be solved now! I left the paint on the counter, I hope he has a great day, as he is sitting on the lawn mower doing nothing

True Value has that feel of the old-time hardware. They have a decent selection and relatively-competitive pricing.

Today I went in for a few things and some keys made. Both managers were working the front of the store, were super friendly and helpful, not just to me but everyone that came in. Love our little neighborhood store. ?

Staff was very friendly and helpful, but just a bit pricey compared to the big box stores. I love the wall of shame they have in the vestibule for all the shoplifters! I think every store should be doing that!

I was in your store about a week ago with nothing more than a picture of a room I wanted to paint. I was unsure of what color to use and your salesperson Rodney was so helpful. He has a real knack for home decor. I would have never chosen the color he suggested but it absolutely tied the whole room together perfectly!! I am so grateful for his suggestion.....he is a true asset to your company!

The staff here is so amazing. Steve and Dan are always helpful. The manager Rodney is always friendly with not only customers but his employees. The cashiers Keona, Deb Barb and Ally are welcoming and but see to it that I have everything I need for my projects before I leave. Highly recommended for all hardware and gardening needs!

Great Place and great prices! I loved the Manager named Rodney, he was absolutely amazing! Knew so much about the product, the price, was just above and beyond with ideas! That Kee Kee girl was okay, great customer service voice.
