We’ve been members off and on for several years. Until this year, we’ve had mostly positive experiences. However, lately we have been quite frustrated regarding the lack of response to numerous contact attempts regarding private swim lessons for our child. Our child did group lessons several times and made limited progress, hence our request for one-on-one. Over the past few months, we have contacted and left messages with the aquatic staff at FOUR different YMCA branches within the Central Stark association. Of the 4 locations we’ve contacted (in some cases, multiple times), NOT ONE has responded to our messages. We then contacted the main association office and they ignored us, too. What kind of message does that send to members?
Never again will we use the Central Stark Y for swim lessons. I’d much rather give my money to the YMCA than, say, Goldfish, and it seems stupid to pay somewhere else when we’re already Y members, but we’ve had to seek lessons elsewhere because the Y has been so unresponsive.

This is my daughter's 4th year spending the summer at the YMCA Summer Day Camp at Glenoak. She loved it so much the first year that she made us promise to take her back year after year. She's had a great time. The teachers are really amazing and thoughtful. There was one incident this summer (a racist comment made to my Black daughter) and the program handled the entire situation well, including holding the camper accountable and ensuring my daughter was supported mentally. My daughter had a great time this summer as well. For the price and value, it is a no-brainer! The field trips, fun, and community are all worth it.

I highly recommend the Y kindergarten readiness camp! My five year old had a lot of fun! The staff were wonderful. My daughter got to ride a school bus for the first time so it wasn’t scary for when she started school in the fall. The kids went on multiple field trips each week and the whole experience built up my daughter’s stamina for long days for when she started kindergarten. Highly recommend!

If I could leave no stars I would. They messed up our membership and now they are charging us for it. Of course I refuse to pay what I don't actually owe so I won't ever be able to have a Y membership again.

I love that my daughter is in a safe and healthy environment where she gets to play and have fun all day with friends! She loves her counselors and she also loves the field trips and swimming! She gets to do so much more this summer because of the ymca summer camp!!

My daughter has been going to the before school care now for 3 years. She loves it! Her father and I love it. The staff at the Taft location are amazing! Miss MaryAnn is the best. She always greets us and the children with a smile. Our daughter has learned a lot in the mornings and really enjoys the art projects and playing with the other children there.

Our 2 children have attended Y care since they were 8 weeks old and are now 6 and 8 years old. They love attending Y care! A wide variety of activities and daily structure are provided. Our children have the ability to make friends outside of school and sports. The teachers and staff are amazing and regularly provide excellent communication. We couldn’t be happier with our experience over the years.

Unlike the Akron and Western Stark YMCA systems, Central Stark does not participate in the Prime Fitness program offered through my health insurance.
