This place has things you can't find elsewhere. Authentic Amish chicken that was packed and delivered to the store the same day I bought it, from a local source. Parmesan Garlic bread sticks. Great produce. And a huge addition full of alcoholic beverages. But for some reason, they hire unpleasant people to run the cash registers. Maybe they don't pay well. Maybe they are depressed family members. There were three of them at registers, but none would say, "I can help you." So I just started towards the nearest one. At that point, she admitted that she could help me. I started to take the items out of the hand basket so that they could be scanned (I have gotten in trouble at Kroger for leaving things in the basket.) She snapped "just leave the basket." They still have the thick plastic shields with holes in them, so the basket just fits through the hole. I guess if you have a cart you can't put that through the hole. That was all she said. She didn't even look at me when she was done scanning. I started to say "Thank you" but then thought better of it, and just picked up my bags and left. On a prior trip, I had a similar antisocial experience with a scruffy male cashier, who acted like he was very upset and inconvenienced that people kept expecting him to ring up their groceries. So that is the odd thing about Country Fresh. The staff are unhappy and antisocial.
