Great little shop, appreciate that each plant type had a few to choose from but not so many to get overwhelmed. Nice price range. Much more confident of plant health and soil quality than most other places.

Walking into this plant shop is like being transported into another, more magical land. The plants are practically singing they are so happy. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful with all my questions. Everything plant I've purchased from Fern is still thriving—and that says it all!

Moved out of the area and ordered a plant w/planter for my mom, requested for it to be planted in the new pot. There was an error with their website and it changed the shipping address to billing. Fine, no big deal. But I paid $35 for 1 day shipping and it didn't arrive for 5 days. Plant ordered didn't match what I would've picked out. It also wasn't potted in the planter I ordered either. It also had two areas of fungus or something on two of the new growths. I reached out and haven't had a reply addressing my concerns. I've been buying plants from Fern since they opened. Customer service in store hasn't been good for years but I ignored it because plant selection was always good. However, this most recent experience has solidified that I will no longer be spending any money at Fern. I guess I see why the second location has closed down. The owner must be super hands-off at this point or is okay with such poor service.

I've been shopping at Fern for years and they've always been super helpful. I can walk in and say "I need a plant that maybe gets light sometimes and might get watered if I remember" and they'll pick the perfect plant. I have a whole plant wall of fern plants and they're all thriving (minus the calatheas, those are evil plants that die if you look at them wrong).
Their prices for plants are pretty good and they have a good selection of pots and accessories and are getting new plants all the time. I highly recommend them.

Fern…you no longer have plants. Like almost at all. TWO employees can’t answer basic questions about plants. Like really basic. Gave us a weirdly hard time for repotting a NEW plant we bought…even after we said we’d be happy to pay the $5. No we don’t have tickets or whatever, but if you’re going to be able to repot, don’t give us a weirdly hard time. Just a very odd experience for a place we have loved for many years.

I love the idea of a plant shop in my College Hill neighborhood, so I just had to check this one out. I love the location -- a refurbished gas station, where they can open up the garage door and basically become a patio in warm weather. And I disagree with a previous Yelp post -- this is not a bad neighborhood -- it's now full of trendy shops, new restaurants, a microbrewery, and a barbershop and hair salons. The ongoing renovation & renewal has kept the character of the neighborhood while bring in new trendy business. But back to this boutique plant shop: The interior was relaxed and comfortable, and the plants were arranged beautifully. The prices were fair market value, which made them affordable for me. The staff there was friendly and relaxed, and we had a good low-key conversation while I perused the plants. I ended up buying two healthy "starter plants." She gave good instructions, regarding the unique qualities of my purchase, including how to water them. I wish they had a larger variety of plants, but overall it was a pleasant store that I'll return back to often.

This place is a plant lovers plant dream ✨ I came in today and asked for some advice for 2 plants I have that are not doing great - the two women working were not only super knowledgeable and helpful (they told me my plant had spider mites ??) but they were also very friendly! They didn’t make me feel like a bad plant mom for being a chronic over-waterer and also not noticing my plant was literally infested with bugs . I walked out with 4 new beautiful healthy plants and a plan to hopefully save the sick ones ??. Definitely check this place out. Even if you’re not looking to buy new plants - this place is a vibe. ?

I wish I lived closer to this store! Walking in feels like a zen moment of happiness. I also wish I had a green thumb to go with all the green things available, I'll have to work on that... I was so excited to get the chance to visit Fern with the YES, I had no idea they've been open for 9 years! I would definitely recommend checking out this place for all of your indoor plants needs, the staff was super helpful and the variety of plants and goodies for sale was really great. I hope you get a chance to stop in!

Nice shop with beautiful plants. The service was horrible. I felt completely unwelcome. I was not greeted upon entry or at check out. I love my plants but I will never return.
