Update (and now one star):As can be seen, the store was quick and diligent to publicly respond to this review. I contacted the provided email below right away. Three months later. No response back from them still… I’ll stand by this review, and now, will also probably shop elsewhere too.The food was outstanding, we learned new skills for sure, and even bought a few cool new things, in a low pressure and discounted way. That’s where the positives end and we’ll give three stars for this.It was our first time being there, with 4 other people we did not know (who had done classes there before) attending as well. My husband and I were paired up with two others to execute a dish and share the recipe, ingredients and cooking. The other couple there spent the evening working together on their own, with their experience divided in two (which is what was paid for) and ours divided in four - for the SAME price (which felt like we paid the same and had a diluted experience). We were admittedly quite disappointed to have to share our work station and work with strangers on what was supposed to be a date night. They were lovely thankfully, and absolutely no offense to them. But it was also on a night where with only three pairs present, we could all have been accommodated to work in three pairs of two (FYI, a full class fits 16 we were told). It just felt lazy and cheap for the price paid. With no guarantee to just work one on one with my partner or seem to get an equal experience as others paying the same price, likely would not spend the money to do this again (plus the money to hire childcare for this rare date night).Buyer beware: there are other cooking schools/classes that tailor to you for similar pricing. If your goal is to get out there and meet people, possibly this is for you. However, this is NOT a good date night option in our opinion - unless you’re planning on a double date.

Went here for a date night. It was called a night in Thailand. We went on a Friday night Rebecca was our instructor and was great! Our food turned out perfect and the overall experience was great.

Was there for Father’s Day they were set up for two groups we were the third group. I bought this thing so my niece could learn how to cook and be hands on. The wings we made were premade and marinated so all we did was dump them on a tray and the instructor put them in the oven. BBQ sauce we made was Montgomery inn sauce with brown sugar so we poured brown sugar in and reduced it.Was really the only think my niece got to do. Then we made pizza dough was premade all we did was roll it out all the toppings were already made. For desert all we made was whipped topping. The class I took at the learning kitchen was way more hands on and we had our own stations we did not have to share every task. I felt this was a waste of time resulting in my niece being bored for her birthday present. She was withdrawn due to lack of involvement. I do not recommend maybe if they did not over book it it might have been a little different but the learning kitchen is way better either way.

If you're looking for a unique fun time or date night idea then look no further than a cooking class! We've taken several classes at the Rookwood location and they've yet to disappoint. Classes are always fun and well organized and the food you'll produce is amazing. I promise you won't leave hungry. You typically work in groups of four and they will pair you if need be. They facilities are nice and they have everything you may need to cook with and you always leave with the recipes, a thing or two learned, and a full belly. You can sign up easily online or in store and they also post a schedule there and in store too. In our past experience the classes fill up quick so this is something you'll want to look ahead and plan for. The cost Varys but we did this one which was Italian night for around 70 bucks each. Each class lasts about two hours.

The Sur La Table class is a fun and great date option. That being said, your instructor can make or break it. The food and cooking part is 5 stars alone. We did the Latin steak dinner night and loved what we made, and how everything was set up. I wasn't sure what to expect but you work in groups of four. Now for our instructor. She was kinda rude? Very condescending and acted very superior. I understand messing around, but being short when we're paying $90 a person, is not it. It really felt as if she didn't want to be there. I have another class coming up in Columbus so I'm eager to see how the experiences compare!

Went here to buy a gift and the man who checked me out was very rude. I stood in line behind another lady and when she left, I walked up to the counter. After being ignored for two minutes, I was greeting with a “Do you need something?” I said “Yes I wanted to buy this.” He then tried to tell me many times that I was inserting my card wrong? I had to tell him I wasn’t. He wouldn’t follow through with the payment method until I told him I had it in the right way. He also tried to charge me for the class I didn’t attend and acted weird when I told him we weren’t part of the class. He was very rude and I’m giving two stars instead of one because I like the items they sell. They should work on their customer service a little more (coming from a customer service worker).

This review is about the website which completely lied about when an online order would be delivered. The website said it would be delivered within 24 hours, but after I paid for it I got an email stating "Due to the extra precautions being taken... your order may take longer to process and ship." I called their main customer service number and was told it would arrive today by 3:00. But when I looked up the UPS tracking the label had not even been created. I called back at 1:30 and was told it would not arrive for 5 to 10 business days! I tried to order the item online and pick it up in the store that didn't work despite statements to the contrary. The customer service number at the store even has a waiting message that says you can order online and pick up in the store, but that didn't work because the website did not know what inventory the store had and it said the item was not available at that store even as the store associates told me they had it in stock.

This fully stocked shop has amazing decor and seasonal items. The kitchen utensils are expensive but good quality - For example, I checked out a whisk for about $25. There are also clearance sections scattered around the store. They sell cute kitchen accessories like mugs, dish towels, and lots of good quality wood items like bowls and cutting boards. There was a cooking class going on in the back and the smell wafting from it was great. I highly recommend their classes to do with a friend or to sharpen your skills. I am looking forward to Valentine's decor coming in!

As a Christmas gift, I took my 10 year old to a noodle class and my 12 year old to.the sushi class. We had a great time. Both boys do a fair amount of cooking at home and they were fine in the class. Two hours and we had made a great meal. The instructors do a great job of preparing for the class and they have it down to a science. They give some great tips and background on the food and help you learn where to source different ingredients. They aren't pushing any purchases in the store which is nice. We bought a few things all the same. It's a great class and a full meal for the money.

This place is amazing! If you love to cook or want to learn they have cooking classes for all skill levels! I have almost applied for the dishwashing job just so I could watch the amazing chefs teach!

We were here for a cooking class.I had mentioned to my husband that we should do something different and I have been wanting and trying to do better in the kitchen so he surprised me with this class. Loved the idea, the actual class.- not so much. The store is great- clean with super friendly employees... this is a high end supply store so expect prices to be high end but they have some super cool lower priced items as well that are very handy. We got a garlic roller that removes the wrapping on a clove of garlic in no time... I waste a lot of garlic with low patience and cutting off and wasting part of the garlic to remove it normally so this was a score at 5$In any event, the cooking class is also in a high end store and I would have expected better. I thought this was a couples cooking class and we'd be cooking together. It's fine that we weren't and we met a new friend but our expectations were different because of poor information given. In any event, I am not going to drag this on but we learned nothing (except about the cool garlic roller) and I feel awful that he wasted so much money (158$) for us to go make salted chicken, with very bad collards that were bitter as heck because no one was instructing... We were all disappointed in that and we have never made greens so my husband and Lisa (our new friend) were making them and I think Lisa was the same as us and didn't know when they'd be done. Instructor gave a quick look from across the room and said something indicating they were fine.... yeah, not good enough. She has also had people from the other table before in class and well, we felt left out a bit on their more personal conversations. We went into this thinking it'd be a romantic steak dinner we made ourselves and took away some tips. Instead, we listened to an instructor and cashier talk about a couple that were late and they looked like they were having no mercy on and they never showed so.... well weird that I had to observe that....... it's not like they missed anything...We did not enjoy at all and we learned nothing with the exception of the garlic roller product. Also, upscale store and they have no drinks (and I mean to buy) for you for your 158$ class, with the exception of provided water. During the break he was going to grab drinks and maybe a small wine at Whole Foods to use at dinner... he was told to "make sure it doesn't say alcohol" .... not sure what the heck that meant but we skipped it as it sounded shady. So, we eat out a lot but I have yet to go to Ruth Chris--- take your 158$ and add another 50$ or so and go there as it will certainly be more enjoyable, with better food and if you ask waiter a few questions you would learn more then we did here....Also -- nope, I am done... had more negative to say but I think you get the gist...For me personally, I love that he cared enough to listen and pick something different for us.... So damn disappointed in this experience!!!!!

I signed my kids up for cooking class. I had high expectations. I was chagrined to find out that the kids are not allowed to bring the food they make home. I found that an odd practice so I called the store. I was then informed they don't have licensure for carry out, thus the kids could not take the food home. I had never heard this before. Bringing the food home is part of the experience. So what are they doing with the left over food? I don't expect them to feed my family but I didn't expect them to feed the store either. The classes are not inexpensive and part of that cost is the ingredients. Moreover, had there been transparency about this this practice, it would have influenced my decision for the kids to take the class. It was not shared online class descriptions nor the confirmation.
