I have been here a few times but this past weekend was my LAST TIME. I have always had great customer service and recommendations in the past with two gentlemen working the front. On Friday, my parents came to town from 8 hours away and I took them here for a wine tasting. We walked in and I asked the young lady where to do the wine tasting and she showed us. I loaded my card up and the machine was down so we waited for them to reboot and fix it- which was fine. Then, one of the bottles were empty after we tried tasting it and so we asked her to replace it since we only got 0.5 ounces (when we selected a 1 oz pour) and the older lady yelled from across the bar “it only charges you what you get” and I asked if they could replace the empty bottle so we could try more and they of course said “no”. There was also a sheet that described all the different wines and one of the bottles was labeled $74.99 but the exact same bottle on the screen said $90 so I asked them to check which one it was- nobody updated us. After we tried everything, we picked one $75 Chardonnay and a $100 Cab. We went up to check out and she tried charging 2 chardonnays in which I said “those prices shouldn’t be the same” and the older lady said “I already told you the price on the sheet was wrong, so this is the right amount” (first of all, no you didn’t, you only told the other younger worker and second, you charged one of them lower so I was being a fair person to tell you that the other should’ve been $100). Then, she goes “ok fine I’ll give you 10% off”. Oh, thank you so much for the 10% off, that doesn’t negate your horrible customer service.I used to recommend this place to everyone but that will no longer be the case.

Second time here but it's been many many years since I've been here. The wine machines were new to me, definitely a great add. You load x amount of money on their card and drink as you please. I think there were about 8-10 to choose from. You can do 2-3oz pours each taste or a full glass ($2-9 range) This is completely self service and at your own pace. This allowed us to chit chat and hang around as long as we saw fit. I loaded $20 on the card and that was enough for me. Plenty of seating. They no longer offer wine flights or tastings, just the machines now, that worked for us.

I've been seeking a new source to purchase wine with knowledgeable staff and a large selection. I believe I have found it after stopping by this establishment. First parking is on the backside of the building with easy access to the store. Unpin arrival I was warmly greeted and help was offered. I shared the types of wines I prefer and what I'd be interested in learning more about. I was given a brief tour and recommendations were made. I purchased 5 bottles of wine. Additionally, I asked about a specific wine type my favorite Petit Chablis from France which I've purchased in OH. The person who helped me is checking to see if he can get me six bottles of it. Fingers crossed. So excited about my new fund and I look forward to my next visit.

Follow up: A comment was left by the owner apologizing and offering a refund. I was willing to accept but then they also never followed up and did anything... which makes me believe it was just to look better on Google. I've never been back and don't have anything good to say about this place.Original Review: If I could give 0 stars I would. My boyfriend and I visited the shop today and I won't be back. We've been here a few times in the past and like to try different wines at shops and wineries all over the area and usually have great experiences... not today. We used the Wine Station and I liked one of the Spanish whites so I wanted to buy a bottle. I picked it out off the sales floor and it was marked as $19.99, but when I took it up to the register they charged me $21.99... not a huge difference, but I asked them to check and price and they did and agreed that it was marked as $19.99. Then an older guy walked up and rudely said well the computer price is right so do you want it or not? I went ahead and paid for it because I wanted it for company that night, but I was fuming on the inside. They literally just lost a customer over $2 when it was clearly priced and they were in the wrong. The older gentleman seemed to only be interested in giving customer service to people who were around his age and looked like they were going to spend more money than we did. Well, after treating me like that he is correct, everyone else is definitely going to spend more money with you because I'll never be back.

I just moved here and stopped in on a friend's recommendation - and I'll definitely be back! The staff was so kind and helpful, prices are great, and I love that you can sample wines while there.

I needed to order a gift for a friend and had to do so by phone since I live out of state. I received excellent guidance on which wines to select and the gift bottles were packaged in an elegant purple box. I was 100% satisfied and highly recommend this wine shop.

Wow! What a nice wine shop in Rookwood / Hyde Park! It is very clean and plenty of parking in the back of the building. Kevin was super helpful and welcoming us in right after that opened up for the day. Looking to drink wine at 10am on a Thursday? If they are open, you can sample the wines! A very cool concept. This is one of the only places in Cincinnati that I'm aware of that has something like this. You load a card with cash and then you are able to try 16 different wines on your own. Very simple and user friendly. Machine tells you your balance and let's you choose a 1,2 or 4 OZ pour. This place has a plethora of wines to choose from for purchase. There is a cooler with a few craft beer options as well. Corking fee got you down? No corking fees here! Feel free to pop open a bottle of wine you have purchased and cork it up and go!

We had a wonderful experience at Wine Merchant today. We started by sampling wines at their automatic wine pour station and found some selections that we went on to buy. The staff was helpful and warm, giving insider advice on good bargains in the styles of wine we enjoy. Everyone there was engaged in helping us have a great experience. I got good advice about whether Tokaji should be enjoyed in an evening or over a few days (invite friends and enjoy). I picked up some bottles of different varieties of red wines to hold onto and enjoy in the coming years. I look forward to my next visit to Wine Merchant!

Customer service is something that’s lacking in a lot of places. This place is no exception. We weren’t greeted when we walked in. We were never asked if we needed help. We walked the whole store and nothing. We even viewed a selection right in front of the register and the gentleman there didn’t chime in once. He was nice I nice we checked out. But I expect more from such a beautiful place. Nice selection and beautiful ambiance.
