A lovely spot with a good selection for book lovers, a trendy crowd, and everyone in between. A great place to stop in and grab a few things.Good options for gifts, children's books, some antique items, and up and coming authors. A charming staff and I will be coming back :)

Appletree Books is amazing! Located in Cleveland Heights, you haven't truly lived as a bibliophile in the city unless you've visited this stunning bookstore. One of my favorite things about Appletree Books is there thoughtful curation of titles. The staff does a fabulous job centralizing titles into cute little areas around kitschy topics. The minute you walk in, it feels like the bookstore of your dreams. It's laid out very aesthetically pleasing and the bold colors catch your eyes immediately. I love that Appletree Books has a solid selection of historical fiction and poetry, two sections that are often missing amongst other local bookstores. The staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help you or recommend titles. I can always depend on a really awesome discourse with staff about my selections. The traditional bookstore is alive and well here at Appletree Books!

I was visiting from out of town and was delighted by the selection of books and puzzles for both adults and kids! The staff was welcoming and friendly and helped me select some books I never would have chosen for myself otherwise. I will totally be back if I return to the area.

I love Appletree! They went all out for Independent Bookstore Day, hiding Monopoly money that you could redeem for gift cards. Although the store is small, there are a lot of books and they restock and rearrange the displays frequently. Plus, I have started going to their book club at Parnell’s Pub (on the second? Monday @7 pm) and I love it! Holly is so welcoming and a great moderator, and everyone has refreshing and interesting takes.

What a darling little book store. I could tell that they put a lot of effort into making the atmosphere and ambiance elegant and romantic. I stopped in on a random just to check it out with my husband after we got coffee at Starbucks. The staff was somewhat pleasant but I got the vibe they were judging us from the very beginning. My husband has tattoos and is a very tall guy and can look intimidating so we’re used to being profiled. But from the get go the staff made me feel very uncomfortable by watching our every move and I felt them looking us up and down every time we passed. I actually wanted to purchase two books I saw that I wanted badly but they made us feel so uncomfortable that I decided that I did not want to give them my business. I appreciate that they want to protect their merchandise but it was extremely rude to assume that just because someone looks a certain way that you should be rude.

Great local bookstore. Employees are always helpful and if they don't have the book you are looking for they will order it.

I needed to order two books and I decided to patronize Appletree books for two reasons. They were conveniently located (on my way to work) and I like to shop at small independent stores whenever I can. I purchased two books with a credit card. A week later I needed to return one of the books. As soon as I entered the store, I was told very directly I needed to wear a mask. That's fine. I'm all for masks. But what got me is that most of the staff were not wearing masks. I hate hypocrisy, so I called them out on it. They gave me some lame excuse that in some areas of the store, the staff doesn't need to wear them. Three minutes later, the owner is standing two feet from me without a mask. I decided to let it go. But the matter that really bothered me was that they would not credit my credit card. I would have to buy another book. If a company can debit your credit card, they can credit it. Again I got some lame excuse. In addition, their hours during the week is 11:00-4:00. Not very convenient. Parking in the back parking lot is metered, so that will add to the price of your book. I learned my lesson. Next time, I'll go to Barnes and Noble.

Decent selection, nice space, but the staff is tough--not particularly kind, and attitude-wise, they act like they're doing me a favor selling me books. Wouldn't say it's kid-friendly either. Shopping here makes me question whether it deserves my dollars by virtue of being independent, since I strive to support small bookstores always, but lacking in any sort of warmth and welcome.

Appletree Books is an almost iconic independent bookstore. The selection of books is just right, the staff is both knowledgeable and friendly, and their responsiveness to orders and questions is fast and personal.I'm especially fond of Michael, whose literary tastes heavily overlap with my own, and Lynn (the owner), who runs a great community-oriented business and has also recommended only great reads to me.It's the Cheers of bookshops, and it's great, as a dedicated and eclectic reader, to go "where everybody knows your name."
