Terrible customer service. In town for business for a few days and they wouldn't rent me a car because I have an Ohio (same state) license at a. Airport location and told me to go to downtown Cleveland to rent.... I haven't been able to update my ID to my new state. This is bulls*** I already had a reservation and even was already charged for insurance...

great price, sucky customer service. Don’t expect to talk to a human, it won’t happen. Won’t rent from them again.
3 hours later: Fascinating, you cannot get an actual person on the phone (they want you to submit a form and wait 3-5 days for a response) but give them a bad review and you get a response within an hour! Talk about screwed up “customer service”.

Not satisfied with dollar.
They ask you to preregister for promt service upon arrival to the airport. Then they tell you your car isn't ready.
Out of 10 rental agencies, dollar had the longest and only line. We were the only folks in the rental hall waiting.
This was unacceptable in the era of modern technology. Do better please!

Terrible Experience with Dollar Rent-A-Car at Cleveland Airport
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Dollar Rent-A-Car at Cleveland Airport, largely due to the unprofessional behavior of two employees, Raquel and Nikita. Despite completing my online check-in and upgrading my vehicle beforehand, I encountered multiple issues that made the rental process a nightmare.
Firstly, the system didn’t allow me to add a second driver, even though it was advertised as free with my AAA booking. When I approached the counter, Nikita attempted to charge me $13 per day for the additional driver, and even after showing proof of my booking, she was uncooperative. She eventually called her manager, Raquel, who was even less helpful. Instead of resolving the issue, I was sent back to the counter, causing unnecessary delays.
On top of that, I had requested a car seat for my three-year-old, which was not ready when we arrived. The car seats provided were broken and worn out, and I was simply told to pick one from a cabinet. To make matters worse, the vehicle lacked a USB charger port, and when I asked about it, Raquel’s response was dismissive, with no attempt to offer a solution.
What was most appalling was the way Raquel and Nikita spoke to me and my wife. Their tone and attitude were so disrespectful that I wouldn’t even speak to my dog in such a manner, let alone a customer. It was clear they had no regard for basic customer service principles.
I paid over $700 for an eight-day rental, and this is by far the worst experience I’ve had with a car rental company. As someone who has spent over $8,000 on rentals this year, I expect far better service. The attitude of these employees was unacceptable and does not reflect well on Dollar Rent-A-Car. I would strongly advise others to consider alternative rental companies if traveling through Cleveland.

DO NOT RENT THROUGH THEM OR THRIFTY they are lazy as hell all other car rentals open at 6 am at cleveland airport they don’t open until 9 knowing that early flights are coming in never again this was the worse experience of my life 9 am is unacceptable for a airport there the first to leave and the last to come in Do Not rent through them

I had a great experience with this rental company. My daughter and I plane landed around 9 in the morning and we went straight to the shuttle so we could get our rental car. We were the only ones in line and the associate was really nice to us. She greeted us and had a conversation with us. The check in for the car was really fast and simple. She told me which spot the car was parked in and told me that the keys were already in the car.
When it was time to return the car, they were closed since we had an early morning flight (5 am). We just followed the Hertz signs and dropped off in the designated spot. We kept the keys in the car and that was it. Since they were closed, we didn't have to go to the counter.
We hopped on the shuttle bus and it took us to the airport for our flight.
My deposit was returned that same day and I was only charged for what I owed. I filled up the tank before dropping off so I wasn't charged extra for that all.
The only reason I gave this company 4 stars was because they didn't let me know that it was damage already done to the car so I was panicking the entire time that I had the rental because I thought they were going to charge me for something that I didn't do.
I do think that they should let their customers know when there's already damage done to the car so we are aware and not stressed the entire time.
Other than that, everything else was perfect!! Will definitely book with them again!!

Beware! They set the toll responder to the “on” position so that even if you try to pay for a toll out of pocket, it will auto scan and open the gate before you can pay. They will later charge you a $75 fee for this even if you take ONE TOLL. They will also not tell you about this at the sales desk. Total scam. You must remember to check the transponder and move to the off position.

RUN in the opposite direction, do not rent from here. It will be double the price. Husbands flight was canceled due to tornados and he just wanted to get home. Tried the manager special, it was noted that it was being returned at a different location 300 miles away, gave him an electric car (max 200 miles), that will not work so we just didn't care and he paid to upgrade to gas for $100 more. The agreement stated $249 and the credit card would be charged $450 but $200 was going to be refunded. Welp go to turn it in and $130 in gas because $10.99/gallon, it was returned FULL! And total was $395. No matter where I go I would crawl there before renting a car from here again.

475 dollars for literal kernels of popcorn. Also, there is no customer service. Everything is email. Waiting for a response. Talking with the manager hasn't helped and haven't been able to talk with anyone to solve my issue.

I ordered the “Manager’s special” and didn’t find out that the managers special was an electric vehicle until I was picking up the car. Obviously I wasn’t interested in figuring out how to find electric car charging stations in an unknown city. Thus, I elected to get a Nissan Altima as an “upgrade” for an additional $50. What was worse however, is that upon return, I was charged for filling the tank even though I left it at 7/8 full just as it was when I received it. At over $10 a gallon, I was charged an additional $40. Good luck getting ahold of them. There is no ability to contact a live agent. Only way to contact them is through their webpage. This company is a scam.

Car was supposed to be ready by 4. It’s now 5 and I’m still waiting. I was supposed to be able to walk out, get in my car and leave after jumping through the hoops online. Nope. That didn’t happen either. Pack of clowns running the show in Cleveland. Use Avis or Budget.

Day two of leaving a one star review as I have still not been contacted by a customer service representative other than on these reviews. Dollar added a hidden cleaning fee to my car drop-off. Was told by the attendant all was well, then when I board my flight I get a bill for nearly $100 over what was agreed. My car was returned in pristine condition.

Hidden fees and horrific customer service. Added a $75 cleaning fee without asking at all at the end of the trip. Car was in pristine condition and I only had it for 2 days. No ability to contact a live agent. Horrible experience. Someone at dollar please contact me I have left inquiries and no response.
