We are in our seventies and retired. Have a fenced in back yard.
For many years we have attempted to adopt from this organization. We never even got called after the times we applied and we gave up.

The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is by far one of the best rescues in the Cleveland area. It is very well run, and the dogs are given the chance to live out their final day/years in loving homes, being well taken care of. My son has fostered a couple of dogs for The Sanctuary and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of his life!

If I could, I would not have given even one star.My Wife and I have been retired. We have a fenced in back yard. We are home most of everyday. We love dogs and treat them extremely well.We have visited this sanctuary twice over the years, in an attempt to rescue a dog and give it an excellent home.First off, the lady who is running this was very rude to us both times that we visited this sanctuary. We completed an application both times. We never even got the courtesy of a phone call from the person who is in charge. With your response to my review, first off, you are making stuff up. We were at your location two times over the years and never got one call from you.As far as social distancing, that is not true. I don't know how you came up with that. When we visited there folks were walking right up to the dogs As far as people waiting outside, neither time did we hold anybody else up from coming in to visit the dogs. If we were holding things up, why didn't you suggest that we leave. As far as two years later, since our last visit, we have not heard from you even once. We are the ideal couple to rescue a dog. We are retired. We are home most of the time. We have a fenced in backyard. Include in your comments, how many times you contacted us about a dog needing a homeI suggest you give the facts when you respond to a review;.

Deborah Workman is angry and rude and put a dog's future (probably its last year) at risk because she was upset with someone over an arbitrary rule her organization initially approved of breaking in a disclosure request.Edit to respond to owner of business: No, I stated in your group that I tried four agencies. The local channels aren't accepting animals. I also reached out to our local professionals responsible for these things-- they're close friends of mine and I speak with them often-- and I was told to search for shelters, because everyone, including the pound, was full. I called your organization, which was rude, but it is what it is, and was told to use that Facebook group. I went to the group. I answered the questions and said I was specifically there for that reason and was approved. I posted and two ladies got upset while most were actively helping. I told those ladies, very politely, that if they have other methods and wanted them practiced, then they were free to the old guy. I lost my contacts, because I was immediately blocked after some great conversations without warning. You're misconstruing the situation, because you have a mission for pets, which is lovely, but completely lack people skills, which is the point of my review. If people want an old dog and have someone helpful and not rude, then go somewhere friendlier and less ego-driven.

We adopted our 11 year old dog Chelsea (renamed Moody) in November of 2018. Wendy, who was Moody’s Foster mom and also works for the Sanctuary for Senior dogs, was a great person to work with and is doing the Lord’s work. Not many people want to adopt an older dog, but I can tell you from experience that it is very rewarding. Our ‘new’ dog came to us with so much character and ready to join our family. A fine organization that has a very good purpose.

Incredible new facility, amazing volunteers, and their mission is to simply serve the community with paws on the ground.

My first visit was December 16th. The staff is friendly and the place is small yet inviting. You are encouraged to get to know the dog and ask tons of questions to the Foster mom. I was super pleased with everything and I have an adoption approval pending. I left feeling great.
I might add there are treats for humans even!! You are also given literature of the adoptions. There are pictures all around of happy dogs.
Thanks for being here in Ohio.Brenda
