Edit***
The management at the store was very quick to contact me and look into my concerns and I feel confident they will address my concerns and retain my business***
Cabela's unfortunately had created 2 negative experiences for me. First, I tried to purchase a firearm and use my concealed carry permit. My permit has my old address, and I have updated with my local sheriff's office as law requires. I was told by the clerk, who claimed he works for the sheriff's office, that if I provided him the permit with my old address while he was on duty he would have arrested me for providing falsified documents.
Now, I try to go pick up a transfer from another Cabela's 30 minutes before closing and apparently, they stop doing transfers in the last 30 minutes they're open, and I got there at 831. The firearms staff were just standing around and could have gotten me out of there before closing at 9
Between being accused of being a criminal, and being denied service while the business was still open, Cabela's doesn't seem too inclined to provide a positive experience

I'm really disappointed in the gun selection because I absolutely love the store other than that.

I went there looking for a certain show brand which they did not carry. So I didn't go inside but the outside looked nice.

The store was well stocked in the items I sought, and they beat the competitors' advertised price by 5%. Too bad the everyday prices are not too competitive.

Good luck actually talking to someone. Called in, on hold for 45 minutes. Finally gave up. Tell me I'm not needed without actually saying the words. Hope you do better for others!
Update:
Customer service reached out and was helpful in addressing this situation, so if you cannot call in, maybe the best option is to email customer service. Thanks for doing better!

Very nice and kind people here. Ky over by the firearms was very helpful with my purchase. Waiting time takes a very long time for firearms purchases. Devon was very nice also

Went here for .357 ammo. Limited on brands to choose from. I looked at other handgun rounds same results with other calibers.
I looked at holster options for a replacement and didn't see any for snubnose revolvers.
So, I went and picked up a couple boxes of .357 and left. Purchased holster online at a different store.
No salesperson in the area just behind the counter. They were busy on a Sunday. Shame that it is difficult to find large amounts of ammunition for sale without having to place an order for bulk online. I am not going to buy bulk ammo that I am not interested in.

How can you not like Cabela's? it's such a destination for anything outdoors.

The store is a shell of what it once was. I used to be able to go in and find a good selection of quality brands. Now it’s all cheap store brands. I used to get my Carhart and Sitka gear here but now they only have a couple of items from each of those brands. They’re currently pushing their own very cheaply made homegrown brands. Disappointing. Guess I won’t be back.

Ordered rifle online for in store pick up. App said the store had limited stock available at Columbus store. Once I completed checkout, it said that it was shipping the rifle to the store and be there 4-7 days. Ok, no big deal. Get email that my rifle is ready for pick up 5 days later, not bad. Went to the store last night close 6pm. Store wasn’t busy. Went to gun section and checked in. I was 2 in the queue. Ended up waiting over 20 minutes for help. Finally get assistance, then associate had to find a computer that works, finds one. Start working on background paperwork only for the system to crash and the associate had to go find a new computer that works, delete the old partial done paperwork and start over. While processing the paperwork, it was caught that the wrong caliber was sent to the store. They were unable to complete the sale to me because of that. They processed a return since they couldn’t adjust the order for the different caliber. No manager was on duty at the time to assist and figure it out. Associates were very friendly but they are set up for failure with poor computers, no leadership present and wrong rifle being sent. The associates said I should call customer service to complain. I did do that, they offered me a $10 gift card for inconvenience. I explained to the rep that I didn’t feel that covers enough of the time it took from me. The customer service agent was very nice and came back with a $50 gift card. The associates suggested I reorder the rifle, I don’t feel confident in the company to send the right rifle nor in the computers which I am putting personal information for background check. With lack of care having good computers and Internet access for doing background checks worries me that they are lacing in security of my personal information. I would rate this a 1 star but the employees were all very friendly and tried their best with what they have.
