Gateway Film Center is a unique and necessary venue for films in Columbus, providing an innovative and dynamic cinema experience. It is dedicated to selecting the best of international and American film, offering year-round access to groundbreaking works and emerging talents. The Center hosts many public events including artist talks, lectures, discussions, festivals, workshops, and educational programs. The staff is described as an allstar team who keep the place running and are very accommodating. There is a parking garage located nearby for accessible parking. The theater offers accommodations such as closed captioning and assistive listening systems. Inside, there are power-assisted doors at the entrance and an elevator, though it is a bit hidden. Theater doors have long handles for accessibility, though they are heavy and not power-assisted. Screening rooms have a front row area for wheelchairs with adjacent seats. However, the theater is particularly loud, and sound from other rooms can be heard. The lighting in the halls and screening rooms is very dark, which could be difficult for those with visual impairments, especially when navigating turns or steps with landing areas. The ticket process can require waiting in lines even after purchasing online. While the seating is nice and there is a great selection of films, they sometimes do not have the newest movies. Crowds can sometimes be unruly and make too much noise. Ohio State students can get discounted tickets. Overall, it is a decent place to watch movies and a great choice for viewing a film, with acknowledged room for improvement in accessibility and modernization.
This is such a great place to see a movie, but I was so disappointed with the Sound for the Movie Wicked. It felt like they turned up the highs and down the lows.

I bought a ticket online from Fandango and still had to wait in line to get it changed into a physical ticket. Then I had to wait in another line for someone to tear the ticket to go into the theater. Let’s modernize this a bit bc this added about 20 min to my actual arrival time
