I deposited a legitimate check at this KeyBank branch that cleared on May 20, 2025 — confirmed by the issuing bank and my client. Despite this, the manager, George Crandell, refused to release my funds and would not provide a written explanation, which I requested under my rights via Regulation CC.
When I returned calmly to the branch to ask for answers, the manager avoided me, refused to escalate the issue or provide contact information for anyone above him — and ultimately called the police to have me removed for simply advocating for my money.
I’ve now filed a formal complaint with the CFPB and contacted KeyBank corporate. This experience has been stressful, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.
I recommend avoiding this bank especially this branch if you expect clear communication, professionalism, or basic customer service.

Carlos is fantastic at his job. If only the rest of Key cared even in the slightest about their clientele

This 5 star goes directly to Brian Carbetta the relationship manager at this keybank location. He is so helpful everytime I need help. He is always kind and polite, friendly and he makes sure you leave very satisfied with the service. He made me fall in love with keybank and now it’s my favorite and best bank ever. If you ever need help here, ask to talk to Brian and I promise you will leave satisfied and happy. The general manager too mr George is also friendly and helpful.

Seriously understaffed with 1 person handling transactions from the drive-thru window and the lobby on Saturday mornings. As they are only open a few hours on the weekend, I can't understand why they don't just hire more tellers.

What the heck, key? I need an account to buy a money order? And you charge me $7.50 to cash a check? FAIL!

I signed up for the free iPod and got a whole lot of nightmares. The place breaths sketchy banking practices. Not a whole lot to say about banks. They have an antiquated online system, gimmicky marketing scheme, and, apparently, unqualified managers. They cashed a check that was 5 months old despite the fact that the check stated that it expired after 90 days. I don't know if that is legal, don't really care. I had looked at my balance the day before and had a couple hundred in. The next day I went about my normal business and used my debit card 9 times or so. Well, it seemed that they had cashed that check which was more than I had in my account. Moved my 2 cents over from my savings (costing me $10) and charged my 10 or so overdraft fees. It took me 3 days to notice which resulted in late fees. In the end I had $600 in fees that I couldn't pay for. I talked to corporate who offered to get rid of 3 fees saving me $120. They said they couldn't do more but the bank manager of my home branch could. I drove up to meet with him, where he told me that "SOME PEOPLE JUST AREN'T MEANT TO HAVE CHECKING ACCOUNTS". I polity told him to screw off and that I would never bank with them again. Let's just say that I kept up my end of the bargain.
