Long time establishment in Columbus. We came here today lunch after an afternoon of running around town. We likely missed the brunch crowd as most everything I wanted was out (scotch eggs, fish and chips). I got the burger with fries, which was decent enough. The fries are fresh cut, so that was a plus. Service was fine. The only bad part was finding parking!

Mac's Proper Pub has been on my radar for a few years because my best friend took me there to try the sauerkraut balls, and I've been going back to have them ever since then. Recently I discovered that they have a great happy hour which includes half off apps and specialty cocktails, so off I went to have a dinner of apps. My order included scotch eggs, fried brie, spinach and artichoke dip, chicken fingers, and of course the sauerkraut balls. The scotch eggs were tasty-- served cut in half with a dipping sauce, and they were better than any scotch eggs I've had in the past. Crispy and delicious, especially with the gluttonous cream cheese dip. The fried brie is also very tasty-- served with slices of toast and definitely not as stinky or strange as brie can often be, more palatable because it's fried with a crispy outside. This is a great 'intro fried brie' for those who it may be too strong for normally. The spinach and artichoke dip is yummy and served with interesting sliced curly-esque fries. I loved the fries I just wish there was a bit more dip so I wasn't left with so many extra fries and nothing to dip them in. The chicken fingers were pretty average. Not a whole lot to say about those and probably wouldn't order them again. I also wasn't a fan of the sauce they were served with. The sauerkraut balls did not disappoint as usual-- sauerkraut and sausage all wrapped together and served fried with ranch(?) to dip them in. I'm not crazy about the dipping sauce but the portion is pretty large-- it comes with 6 sauerkraut balls that take at least 2-3 bites to finish. The bar itself is long and slender with an incognito room with a pool table in the back that I just noticed on this trip, despite having been there many times before. I'll definitely be back to blow off some steam with a game of pool during happy hour soon.

Customer service was awesome but the recent menu changes have brought the quality of the food well under anything I would buy again.Today was especially bad, the onions rings, and French fries were undercooked and soggy in the restuarant and the fish was overcooked to the point of being mush in over fried brown dough.

We had the Irish stew and a grill cheese sandwich. Stew tasted like they dumped a jar of gravy in a bowl. The grill cheese was just mid. Nothing could be described as "good."

Had a simple salad but they were out of cucumbers and croutons apparently so it was just lettuce and cheese (I asked for no onion). Was quiet inside which was nice.

Mac's was the first stop on my "figure out which bar is the vibe right now" walk with a friend. I felt like Mac's had a really family-friendly and casual feel to it. No loud, crazy music or TV (or people). If you're looking to hang out with some friends, eat, have a drink, this is probably a good spot for that. I did not eat any of the food, but the pretzels with cheese enticed me. If they had said it was beer cheese sauce, I would have 'bitten' (see what I did there). We got CBUS Collins which we enjoyed! I'd stop back in and feel cool bringing family or a friend group here!

The food is three star at best. The service is non-existent. Takes forever for someone to take to our order, ages for food to make it out of the kitchen. That the place looks nice and the staff are friendly (if unhelpful) are about the only positive to be had.

Everything about this place is awesomeHad the loaded tots for an appetizer. For my meal I had a build your own burger with ghost peppers cheese and mushrooms and a side of mashed potatoes. All the food was greatService was on point as well. They were here when we needed refills and took care of us without being overwhelming. Will definitely come back!

Mac's is great. I go there all the time with my girlfriend and like to bring friends there too. Mac's stands out in a sea of trendy bars and restaurants crowding high street these days. Go and get yourself some french fries and a sandwich with some beer any day of the week. The food isn't going to win any awards but it is well priced and does taste good overall. The waitstaff is friendly and timely. Sit at the bar and have a nice conversation with the staff if you want to. This is a neighborhood joint, everyone is welcome. Music and TVs are never loud (except during events like OSU football), you can always hear the person/people you are with. Very causal. Booths are comfy. Highly recommend Mac's.
