Menards has great prices but their delivery and check out policies are super lacking. If tou do large jobs its hard to deal with the fact that they cannot give out clear delivery dates and its honestly a deal breaker for me. In addition, delivery pickup areas can't ring you up. They make you walk all the way across the store and back.
Finally, I think a lack of customer experience focus is the problem here. If they improved that, I think they would dominate.
Update- I have now also caught Menards failing to deliver some items and not notifying me. Up to his point, it's cost me hundreds of dollars because I wasn't diligent enough about making sure they delivered everything. Upon calling them they knew they did it and did not inform me. That feels like borderline theft to take someone's money and then not deliver the items without notifying them. Done working with Menards.

Rude - Rude - Rude! Twice now the older gentleman working the back gate for the yard has been the most unprofessional employee I have ever encountered anywhere I have been. No more Menards for me.

Where to begin with this one. Let's start with parking our vehicle out front to exchange some chairs that never stop breaking - we ask an associate out front if we can temporarily park our vehicle there to unload the chairs. This question was well above his pay grade and we were told to ask someone inside. This is where it gets fun - we go inside and ask for the hardware manager, who we spoke with 10 minutes prior on the phone, and were told he will meet us up front. After waiting 25 minutes at the front with our newborn, I approach the counter and ask if they can just issue the in store credit. She calls the hardware manager, and he authorizes. Why am I waiting 25 minutes for this result? Manager never came, so we go look at new chairs to take home. We locate some new chairs, and then I wait several minutes for an associate to appear - when I ask for help, he replies - without a word - by just holding up his finger, gesturing me to wait. He was helping someone else, but I mean... use your words? At half the speed of smell, he then walks over to the chairs, doesn't say a word, looks at the tag, then back to the hardware desk. Again, words? Do I follow? Wait? He walks back to me and says the floor model ones are the only one available. Fine, no problem. We ask if someone can help and he tells me there's a flatbed cart around the corner. There wasn't. He doesn't call for help, I then carry 4 chairs individually up front. They THEN double charge us for the chairs because the associate didn't know how to properly check them out. One hour later, we finally get out of Menards. And guess what? I'll be doing this song and dance again because this $400 outdoor bench, advertised as weather resistant, looks like this after one summer - we even took it inside for the winter. I included a new version of it too, so you can see the difference:

Apparently, it’s your responsibility to open Brand new parts to confirm they’re not broken. Really not impressed. Relied on you guys to supply me With new quality parts at a fair price. Unfortunately, the product I received was damaged and you were not willing to make this right. To drive over there and back to swap out is completely ridiculous. I didn’t have time to go back-and-forth with the managers name. Scott wasn’t even willing to talk to me. I’ll definitely Steer clear from this store In the future As it’s cost me time and money and they simply do not care.

I'm crying my eyes out as I leave this review. My oldest brother was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was starting chemo so I thought it would be nice to get him a lift chair. Around this time, my husband was fighting a terrible bout of Covid. I ordered my brothers chair via Menards website and thought it would take a while to arrive so I'd have time to take care of hubby. NOPE! That bad boy was there lightning fast. I called the store in a panic and spoke to a very kind gentleman named Tony. He assured me he would hold the chair. Today, my brother is moving into his forever home. I pray to God that he'll be there for a long time. I looked on the website, and it showed I was past the pickup time. My heart sank to the floor! His chair was gone! I called the store. I got a manager who located Tony and this amaaaaaazing human had held the chair! This kind of kindness and thoughtfulness guarantees we will continue to shop Menards! Thank you so much, Tony, for being a man of your word. May God bless you and yours! Excellent experience at Menards today. (Which is not unusual tho). Had to return some patio cushions and it was handled very professionally and courteously. We appreciate the excellent customer service.

Ordered a pallet of flooring had to split between 2 trucks. Total attitude at order pickup! If you hate your job then don’t work here.
