The Ohio State Havener Eye Institute is not a regular eye doctor for prescriptions but a group of ophthalmologists dealing with complicated issues and eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and eye trauma. The ophthalmologists are described as the absolute best, kind, compassionate, personable, approachable, knowledgeable, and attentive to detail. They are very good at explaining what is happening to your vision and do everything they can to help, including performing surgery and saving eyesight. If a problem is out of their expertise, they refer patients to another specialist for an appointment ASAP. The medical and ophthalmology technicians and assistants are also noted as very sweet, caring, and personable. Patients report coming for many years for follow-up care and management of conditions like optic nerve damage and glaucoma. The institute is recommended for anyone with eye problems. However, the waiting room can get a bit crowded and appointments involve a lot of waiting and shuffling from station to station for various testing, typically taking 45-90 minutes from check-in to check-out. One part of the fifth floor is constantly freezing, so bringing a jacket or sweater is advised.

My husband has keratoconus and had corneal cross linking done on both eyes last year here. They were so wonderful and we came back this year to get scleral lenses. Everyone we’ve spoken to has been so caring and kind. We are driving 4 hrs round trip for these appointments and will continue!

Had eye lid muscle surgery with Dr Sruti here. Everyone was super nice and very proficient and efficient. I return again for more eye surgery in 2 days
