We got our dog Lily from PWP almost 10 years ago. The process was very pleasant and Lily is one of the best dogs we have ever owned. If the right rescue arrives, we may get Lily a friend.

I would never want to deter someone from adopting an animal. That is not the point of this review. I just want to stress to people looking into adopting from here to make sure you get medical records BEFORE adopting. We adopted our cat and I made the mistake of not asking for full medical records, due to this it took me weeks to track down all of my cats records. I was told they would all be at the veterinary office they work with. This was not true. I was given little information and it made it extremely hard to obtain records myself. In addition, it was hard to get replies from Pets Without Parents about my concerns. When we adopted him, he had a slight runny nose as soon as we brought him home. We went to the vet and got meds with no results. Our vet told us to wait six weeks to see if he got over it, he did not and I have now spent $300 getting him the help he needs. Hopefully what he is on now helps, if not he will need X-rays and a possible steroid to help with his nose and eyes.Bodhi (previously Chip and apparently previously Franklin) is an amazing cat though and I will never regret getting him. I can tell his foster parent took a lot of time socializing him. He is apart of the family and a cuddly boy.I just wish there was better communication with Pets Without Parents and more honesty with the state of his health. In addition, I took so much time filling out the application, answering all the questions to the best of my ability and filling out references. I would think it’s only fair that they put the same amount of effort in supplying the needed records and information to give to the new owners.

I have put in an application and have called 3 times and left messages. Stopped by and although we could see someone in the window, they wouldn't answer the door or the phone when we called while standing there. They are not serious about finding these poor animals homes.

Great underestimated shelter. 100$ for kittens 50$ for adult cats. Amazing prices. Also we got the little love of my life there. We got the best kitten anyone could ask for. Quick process, very professional. They really care about the animals and where they go. 10/10

Jourdan was a pleasure to work with on the adoption of my new pup, Scout (formerly Forrest). My application was responded to and references checked on the same day I applied and it was approved the following day. Thank you for such a great experience and for taking such great care of Scout when you rescued him!

I called to inquire with questions about adopting a kitten, and never received a call back. I filled out the application, and it asks for way too much information that could be used in identity theft.I never received a response back to my application, which is fine, but even a polite automated email to respond that they had declined, or that the kitten was no longer available (whatever the case was) would have been nice.

Adopted my sweet girl from here back in 2011. She’s been the best thing to happen to me! The staff was so kind and helpful.

I originally went to the PWP website for assistance with a pregnant stray cat. I followed the instructions, completed a lengthy form, uploaded a picture as directed and ..... Nothing.I didn't receive a return email or even automated confirmation that my information was received.I decided to call, no answer so I left a voicemail message and...... Nothing.I called again but this time I was greeted by a very rude woman that told me that they didn't have room and all of the foster homes were full of pregnant cats. (I could almost feel the eye roll through the phone) I asked if she knew of any other places that might be able to help and she quickly rattled off a website with a list of resources and hung up.I understand the system is overloaded with stay cats but this isn't the way you should treat people that are trying to help the very population you claim to care about.PS If you are completely full maybe note that on your website so you don't waste people's time and effort.

This is the only place I’ve ever gotten a cat from where I truly felt like EVERY cat I saw was healthy & cared for. They clearly pay very close attention & treat it quickly whenever one of their animals is sick & I felt so good about the environment & the way they are treated. We still keep in touch for updates!

PWP puts a lot of effort into making sure you’re a right fit for your pet. It’s clear they give lots of love to the animals. When I first met Magnolia, she was much less excited to see me than I was to see her. PWP worked with us to warm Maggie up to me and after a few visits, she was running out the door to greet me. Maggie has moved around a lot prior to me, but it’s nice to say she has found her forever home. I appreciate the work PWP put into Mags and the training they provided to me along the way. Needless to say, she’s made an amazing addition to my life and I hope to be the same to her.

This shelter needs more attention, not only for the pets but for the people caring for them! We wanted a buddy for our current cat since we sadly lost our boy of 17 years, and decided to take a trip to PWP. I was taken aback by the fact that it was in a house but when I walked in and met the people inside they were really helpful and friendly. You can tell they have a lot on their hands, and just because it doesn't look like an established shelter doesn't mean that these pets and the hard work of the people/volunteers aren't worthy of attention. These types of shelters are in need of your donations and your time and if you have the means to contribute to either of those I encourage you to do so! Their adoption fees are very reasonable considering they have already been spayed/neutered and treated for other various things. They stand by their mission of no-kill and spend a good majority of their day making sure these animals are fed and let out and loved. They could give a pretty good overview of what pets would fit with your current living situation and preferences. Yes, some shelters max out of room, I see some reviews on here stating that their surrender wasn't obeyed. That's a reasonable excuse to be bothered by the customer service but do not let that prevent you from giving them a chance. It's unfortunate they may have filled up between that time you adopted and needed to surrender, or just need to surrender in general, but if that's the case be diligent and make sure the pet you choose is for you and FOREVER Overall, we had a wonderful experience and are happy to support a local no-kill shelter, and even happier to help at least one animal find a forever home. Please consider going here if you're going to be adopting a pet! Also PSA: yes it is fairly loud in there because the dogs get excited and want to see who just stepped in the door. The other animals seemed unbothered by this, and the dogs will calm down if you step into the other main room to have conversation. That could be an added bonus for those of you who may be taking an animal home to a louder household, as they will be somewhat used to it. AND yes, it smells like animals when you walk in... because there's plenty of animals in there... so suck it up!!! All the crates were well kept as I was making my way around and greeting everyone. Cats pee, and the pee stinks. Especially when there's 15 cats in the same vicinity. Doesn't mean they're unclean or unkempt!!
