We dropped in to check out the new Ace location. There is one other hardware store in Cortland and we wondered how they would compare. It quickly became obvious that while some products do overlap, the similarity stops there. Ace is a new modern facility with a broad inventory of upmarket, large and small ticket products. Not just hardware/housewares but food, office supplies, project material and more.
Being linked to a nationwide organizations means this store has access to economies of scale which offers cheaper prices, better sales and wider selections.
The only question I left with is the depth of knowledge of the very young staff. The other hardware store has a couple older drizzled guys who have been there and done that. You go to them with a question and you leave with the material you need and a complete set of instructions to execute.
I was very impressed with this Ace store. I just wonder how many $2500 grills they need to sell to stay in business.
