I had an appointment at 3:30 to exchange a Chevrolet Equinox for another one that I had found with much lower milage within the 30 days. I was told on Tuesday that it was ready. When I arrived on Thursday our sales person checked to find it and it wasn't there. Finally he was advised that it needed a new fuel pump. The service tech that was working on it had gone home early and no one else tried to complete the job. My sales person was very upset that no one contacted him or myself about the pump. Our drive to get there was 40 minutes. Someone dropped the ball and now we are waiting to hear, today is Saturday.I need to address another issue that I found on the current Equinox I am driving. The day we bought it was raining and it was hard to see the interior. We took a test drive and eveything seemed fine. We felt we had checked it over finding no problems. However several days later I was riding in the back seat and happened to look up. This car has a panoramic sunroof and all around it on the ceiling there was black dog or animal hair. I am guessing that it is in the part that slides back too. I couldn't believe that when carmax did their big check it wasn't noticed! I want you to know that my salesman went above and beyond to try to make things right, but there wasn't much he could really do.

Stress free, no salesman pressuring you to buy a car you don't want. All financing was done before we picked up the truck. This was our 2nd purchase through Carmax and we will continue to come back.

I just wish before moving the car to your backlot, carmax can offer giving an opportunity to spend the absolute last 2 minutes with the car. It would have given customers like us to take final pics and relish some moments with the vehicle that travelled its life with us!

My overall experience atthe CarMax Dayton location was not a positive one. I felt passed off and taken for granted from the moment I walked through the door. From test drive to purchase, I was assigned three different sales people. My car had to be jump-started before I could test drive it, so I was promised that the service department would replace the battery if I decided to purchase the car. When I returned from my test drive and was ready to purchase the car, I was told there was no one left in the service department who could install a battery for me. I was then assured that CarMax would reimburse me if I drove to the nearby Advance Auto, purchased a battery, and had Advance install it. Brian Lawhorn, our salesperson, told us to simply text a photo of the receipt to him and he would see that we were reimbursed. I was less than pleased with the inconvenience of having to go and buy a battery, especially when I had previously been promised a replacement, but it was getting late and I had an hour and a half drive home, so I complied. By the time we were finished with the purchase paperwork, it was almost closing time at Advance Auto. Advance found a battery for us and tried to install it, but it wouldn’t work because one of the terminals was smaller and it wouldn’t connect properly. It was long past closing, but the two salespeople at Advanced kept trying different batteries and connections, but nothing they had would work. The guys at Advance were phenomenally tenacious. I would give them a five-star review!We ended up reinstalling the old battery and getting a jump start to get home. We kept the new battery, hoping ourmechanic could figure out the problem. My husband texted the receipt photo to Brian Lawhorn. We had been planning to stop at a restaurant for dinner, which would now be impossible, unless we kept the car running or got a jump-start afterward. Since we had to drop my newly purchased car off at our mechanic’s, I didn’t even get to take it home the first night!To make a long story short, we eventually learned that I had to order a special battery from Toyota, which costs more than the first battery we purchased. I called CarMax and explained to an attentively patient and pleasant Lead Business Office Associate named Ashley Landers that I would need additional reimbursement. She checked with Brian Lawhorn about the situation and was told that he hadn’t even received our initial receipt (even though there clearly exists a text message exchange that contains the photo).I sent my new receipt to Ashley and am waiting to see if she can help get me the reimbursement I was promised. If she does, I will revise my one-star rating of the Dayton CarMax sales department to reflect the five-star rating I will give the business office.

They lost my credit app not once but twice. So they ran my credit 3 times and dropped my scores by over 25 points. What was supposed to be a 30 minute visit to the dealership took an hour and a half and I almost walked out. Tried to get me to sign for the vehicle without even seeing it. So was not a great experience and probably will not shop there again.
