Ellie at the Salon was the absolute best!! Super accommodating and willing to take the time to make sure you are getting exactly what you want! It was my first time ever using the Ulta Salon service and because of her I definitely will keep coming back!!! Thank you Ellie!!!! :)

I don’t normally give reviews but I felt the need to leave one for this particular store. I’m from Texas but I travel daily for work. I decided to stop in to this particular location to purchase the Dyson supersonic hair dryer. I work hard for my money and had been in decisive on whether I should purchase the $500 blow dryer. I was not greeted by anyone when I walked in the store. I also was in the section where the blow dryers were for a while with no one asking me if I needed help. I had to go find someone to help me out.The first associate from the salon with the pretty neck tattoo was so helpful when I asked questions in regards to the blow dryer. When I went up to the front counter to purchase the blower dryer intially the associate who checked me out was nice telling me she’d purchased the same blow dryer. I let her know that I travel for work and needed something to where I can blow dry my hair safely and quickly while I’m over the road. She asked if I wanted to apply for the Ulta credit card which they always do, I respectfully said no. My capital one card declined when I swiped my card. I told her to give me a second I thought maybe I’d forgotten to unlock my card. When I swiped it again it declined again. I asked her what message it read and she said it declined and asked if I wanted to just apply for the credit card again because that card wouldn’t work, I could tell she instantly started to judge me thinking I didn’t have the money. Her attitude definitely changed from the initial conversation. I let her know again I didn’t want to apply for the card, and if the card didn’t work again I still had the money to purchase it. I ended up getting a fraud alert from capital one asking if I was the one trying to make the purchase and after I confirmed that I was the one trying to make the purchase they let me know to try the card again. I let her see the text and I tried the card again and it went through. She wasn’t totally rude but I didn’t like the distasteful attitude after she felt like I didn’t have the money to purchase the item. Im not racist but she was a white woman, and I’m a black woman. I was just passing through but won’t return to this location.

This review is for Paula at Ulta Dayton Mall.
I was looking for new hair products and met Paula.
Paula was down to earth, helpful, and really knows the products. She checked on me a couple of times and ended up helping me find the perfect sample hair kit with shampoo, conditioner and hair growth at an affordable price and a great inexpensive hairspray. I liked how she was enthusiastic about helping me. Paula made my shopping easy and fun. The products in the hair kit are great. Thanks Paula!

Review is for the Salon inside Ulta at Dayton Mall location- I went in for an eyebrow wax… $29 is pretty steep for an eyebrow wax, but i didn't want to have it done at the nail salon, so i went here. I’m not picky! I didn't have a preference on a particular person. Anyways, Ellie was the person who waxed me… Apparently she just graduated cosmetology school in April…. It’s the beginning of June… i was not aware she was so new until she had already waxed one eyebrow. I wish i would have known before starting so i could have have had the option to decline getting the service done or not. Anyways, she ended up burning me. (She was very friendly, so that’s why i gave 2 stars) but that’s about it. I dont think she was ready to be on her own quite yet. I’ve had my eyebrows waxed sooo many times & i have never been burned before .

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The staff is rude and have no hygiene. I love Ulta, but will not be returning to this location. Specifically, one of the employees (white woman with brown hair and glasses and a larger white girl who stunk) kept staring me down as I was shopping. Didn’t ask if I need any help, didn’t greet me, just stared me down as if I was being watched.

Very poor customer service skills! I sprayed a hair spray just to see how it smells and feels on my hair and a older lady with white hair comes out the back door and says we don’t have testers for those , they aren’t supposed to be used and says I have to go damage it now and reaches her hand out to take it from me ! Pathetic ! . Instead of asking me if I needed help finding something or had questions about the hair product . . I was going to buy some things but I put my items back down and walked out .

They didn't have the product my wife needed in stock, so since we live over an hour away they are sending them to her and no charge. Love that !!

My friends and I (three POC women with different skin tones) visited with the hope of getting color matched, and Emma was absolutely AMAZING! She matched each of us flawlessly on the first try and recommended products that suited our different skin types. She made the whole experience enjoyable, never rushing us or making us feel uncomfortable. Truly outstanding service—Emma deserves a raise!

Hi me and my friends had an amazing experience with Emma. We’re 3 black women all in different shades and tones and she expertly color matched us making sure to pay attention to tones and little details to get us the best match possible. The matches were flawless you couldn’t even tell we had makeup on and she provided a lot of details when we had questions. And she did all this within like a hour of them about to close and she never made us feel rushed. This woman deserves to be a manager and a pay raise.
