BEWARE! Imagine you visit this Y from out of town. You put your things in an open locker to use the pool. Pool is closed so you use the steam room instead. After a steam you go to your locker to retrieve your things. The locker has malfunctioned won't open. you're in your swim trunks with no phone, no keys or wallet. The staff tells you there is no way to enter the malfunctioning locker. You're now STRANDED !If you're lucky enough to have A friend nearby they can drive 45 min to give you clothes and a place to sleep. But what if you're not so lucky? You sleep on the floor of the Y I suppose. The maintenance person won't show up till the morning. When he does have to physically break into the malfunctioned locker, he'll insinuate it's your fault .DOES that sound like a RELAXING time at your local Y?Stay away. BEWARE!!

The Downtown Y has all the amenities you'd expect, along with a few you can't find everywhere else, such as -- my personal favorite -- a handball / racquetball court. (If you see us playing on the court at six in the morning some weekday, stop and say hi!)

As a former YWCA member, I would rate the Dayton YMCA pool as not as good for water aerobics, but the studio classes are quite good.

The Downtown Dayton YMCA is amazing, it is one of the few facilities left with a sauna and/or steam room. All of the staff is amazing and the doors are open when they say they will be open!

Apparently pool has been closed due to temperatures, not sure how long it has been? They continue to post swim times on the schedule though.

The YMCA downtown is very spacious. It has great workout equipment and the facilities are well maintained. My only complaint is we have to pay additional fees to park in the parking lot to a facility that we pay monthly for membership. The membership is already expensive compared to other gyms. Charging patrons to park is greedy

Urgent Remodeling Needed for YMCA's Men's Locker RoomI recently visited the YMCA and I must say, the state of the men's locker room was truly disappointing. Immediate remodeling is desperately needed to address the numerous issues that plague this facility.Firstly, the lockers themselves are in a sorry state. The rust covering them is not only unsightly, but the staff's attempt to paint over it has only made matters worse. It's evident that a fresh coat of paint is not a sufficient solution, and the lockers require proper refurbishment.Furthermore, the condition of the bathroom stalls, urinals, and toilets throughout the entire facility is deplorable. These fixtures are in dire need of replacement. The constant wear and tear have taken a toll, and it's clear that a comprehensive upgrade is necessary to provide a clean and hygienic environment for users. On the positive side, the sauna and steam room seem to be functioning well, but they could definitely use a thorough deep cleaning. This would greatly enhance the overall experience for those utilizing these amenities. However, despite the sauna and steam room being in relatively better shape, the same cannot be said for the men's locker room. It can only be described as atrocious. The lack of maintenance and attention is evident, and it falls far below the standards one would expect from a reputable organization like the YMCA.In conclusion, it is imperative that the YMCA takes immediate action to remodel the men's locker room. The rusted lockers, haphazard paint job, and the dire condition of the bathroom fixtures are all significant concerns. By investing in a thorough renovation and ensuring proper upkeep, the YMCA can create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for its members. I will provide pictures and videos during my next visit.

Been trying to cancel membership for almost a year and keep being charged! I no longer live in the area. I've called and left messages and emails and no one has contacted me back and they keep stealing money from me

Review #1.My wife has paid for a family membership for at least 20 years. (Kettering Cancer Center Nurse). We have tried to use the facilities at the closest location and had bad luck at the West Carrollton facility with very rude customers and lackluster employees. We only used the therapy pool and pool area ever.I have driven and toured the facility downtown twice now. Horrible parking every time, so I plan on riding my bike today. It is a Sunday, they open at 10 am. The reason for my visit is to visit the whirlpool for 30 minutes. I checked both Facebook and their website. No notice of the area being closed. My next review will be of today's experience.I hope you are staffed up.These one star reviews are hurting you YMCA. You can and have done better.

There is an empty room at the YMCA that are used for private classes. I am a hula hopper and I need a space to hoop with mirrors and so I went to the Y to see about using the room and I had no answer when I was told to e-mail for a response and then when I called about it they said that they would not reserve the room for me although I even offered to rent the space and I was also told that a lot of the employees just let people in the room.I don’t understand why they would be greedy about an empty room that apparently people are aloud to use anyways. Even when I offered to pay and I was told by a woman in a higher position that they rent out the rooms, The director wouldn’t even have a conversation with me about it and she was there at the office so I sat on hold while someone else just relayed messages to me.If you’re going to put a public gym out with rooms for people to use then why can’t they use them! I even told the guy I was interested in teaching hooping classes, but I guess that didn’t matter.I guess that’s what I get for trying to be polite and respectful about using a room at the Y.There are only so many studios in Dayton and I think it is pretty inconsiderate to not at least meet me and have a conversation about it. Oh well, I’m getting to where I just expect this from businesses not really caring what the customer needs. Also when I was there at the counter the girl that worked there snubbed me and looked at me like I had the plague. I didn’t think I was that bad to look at, but apparently so! Haha

The bad reviews seem so Karenish. It's not a spa or hotel. It's a 100-year-old building and they got kids working there. Just go lift your weights brah. I love this place. For the size, probably the best gym I've ever been to. SO MANY facilities-- dedicated boxing room, pool, sauna/steam room, 2 basketball courts, + tons more. It's old-school & dope.
