The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum is a historic site and a National Historic Landmark that offers a fascinating look into America’s history. Originally built in 1873, this restored Pennsylvania Railroad depot is recognized as the best example of a WW2 Canteen still in the country. During World War II, the depot served as a Salvation Army Servicemen’s Canteen, where 1.3 million service members received free food from thousands of volunteers. The museum features a variety of exhibits, including a large model train display, restored train cars such as a WW2 hospital car, and a display of a steam engine and Pullman cars. Visitors can enjoy interactive activities like scavenger hunts, children’s railroad cars, and special events throughout the year, including the Polar Express. The site also includes a museum, restaurant, gift shop, theater, and rolling stock. It’s a place where visitors can walk in the footsteps of American heroes and learn about the vital role of railroads in WWII and local history.
I always enjoy coming here. They have a scavenger hunt set up for kids. I took my boy and we had a great time.
