Food was good. Hot and fresh. My issue is tipping culture. There were two people in front of me and neither one of them were asked if they wanted to tip but I was. What is with that?

Stopped in for a coffee and meeting. Staffing was on the short side and the wait was longer than it should have been for a cup of coffee. Friendly staff but probably having help issues. I get it. The coffee was good and the food offerings were modest but the quality seemed above average. The location is good and the interior was fair with some seating. Clean and organized. Would have given 5 stars but my wait seemed longer than it had to be given it wasn’t super busy at that time.

The bagels here are really good. They have a lot of different options for bagels and sandwiches, but I love the classic everything bagel with cream cheese.

The food here is great, but I've really been upset by how the cashier asks you publicly if you want to tip and exactly how much, out loud. Tipping in a walk up place like this should be optional, private, and not pressured. I get that ypu have the right to say no but it's very embarassing to be put on the spot to do quick arithmetic in your head and announce to them, and everyone in line behind you, how generous of a person you are. There are plenty of payment platforms that make the tipping process less painful and more polite. I usually am a person who tips in every situation, even though I think it's really gotten out of hand in this country the past few years. Think we will find another place to get bagels if this method of publicly shaming people into tipping continues.

We have been coming here for many years. The last few visits have been a disappointment. Service today was far slower then normal and they left part of the egg shell in the sandwich.

Bruggers undeniably boasts of a commendable product--bagels crafted from scratch and steaming cups of coffee that hit the spot. The amiability of the staff further enhances the dining experience, and without a doubt, I extend my endorsement of their culinary offerings. However, a grievance of significant proportions casts a shadow over this otherwise favorable impression--a grievance tied to the establishment's tipping policy. To put it bluntly, the owner and select employees employ a persistent tactic, imploring patrons with the question, "Would you like to help support our staff with a tip?" The context in which this unfolds warrants scrutiny; Bruggers is unmistakably a fast-food haven, devoid of traditional table service norms. Remarkably, this practice extends to instances of carry-out as well. The dichotomy here cannot be ignored. The conventional wisdom surrounding fast food joints distinctly eschews the notion of tipping. The imposition of such an expectation, particularly in an environment engineered for swift service, generates a palpable dissonance. Strikingly, rather than incentivizing generosity, this persistent prodding seems to yield counterproductive outcomes. This becomes most evident when one gazes upon the tip jar stationed at the counter--a testament to my willingness to contribute when engaging in an in-house dining experience. Yet, when met with unwelcome pressure, my inclination to tip diminishes considerably, often bordering on nonexistence. My qualms, it turns out, are not solitary; a chorus of patrons has joined in raising similar objections. The upshot of this heavy-handed practice appears to be detrimental, both to the establishment's bottom line and the welfare of its employees. One can't help but wonder--does this pressure to tip weigh more heavily on the scales of business than it does on the pockets of patrons? In summation, while Bruggers unquestionably excels in its gastronomic offerings and the affability of its staff, the imposition of a tipping plea in an environment unsuited for it detracts from the overall experience. This misalignment not only disrespects established norms but also risks alienating the very clientele it seeks to garner favor from.
