I would give zero stars if I could. I went in to buy fish. I came out with zero fish because the manager refused to sell me any. He said a 30 gallon isnt big enough for 2 cichlids (oscars) because they'll outgrow the 30 gallon, i said i know this so I can switch and put the gold fish in the 30 gallon and put the Oscar's in the 60. He then told me he would only sell me one type of fish. I said why? Jonah said I didn't have the appropriate set up. I have a 60 gallon aquarium and a 30 gallon aquarium at home. I asked him if he wanted to see a picture to verify and he told me no. I said i don't understand how I dont have an appropriate set up. He said, "I'm not here to argue with you." He then proceeded to put the net back and refused to sell me any fish. This young kid was having a power trip so then I asked to speak with a manager, he said he is the manager. I said" I don't know how you became a manger. "He said, " because I do my job correctly." I'm not sure what he did correctly in that situation but refuse to sell a product to a paying customer. This was the most ridiculous interaction I have ever had over feeder fish, that are meant to be ate, and I wanted to try and keep for a little while. I told him my water had been tested and it's fine, and he asked how long the tanks had been clean and I set up, i said a week to get the chlorine out. I also let him know I've had an Oscar before that lived 8 years and he still refused to sell me one. Absolutely ridiculous!! There is no way he should be a manager. I proceeded to buy my tank heaters, and I guess ill just have to take my business elsewhere thanks to jonah at store 0123, since I'm not allowed to buy fish there....
So I'm updating this review and it only gets worse. I called the store the next day after this event and Valerie the store manager that was on answered. I said i wanted to talk about an incident with the manager jonah that was on the other night. She proceeded to say jonah had already explained the situation and that they have the right to refuse to sell animals/fish if they don't think it will work out. I said oh, then I tried explaining it and she kept saying comments, that maybe he misunderstood, I'm not trying to take sides etc. Clearly you are because you came into the conversation biased and accepted what jonah said as fact. I said i drove from 'city of residence' and took the time to come out there just for fish. Her response to me was i drive from there to work and it's not that far. What manager argues the distance a customer drove? She has no idea if i had to get an Uber, find a ride, get a taxi...these managers here have zero training on customer service. She then tried to make up another reason why jonah may have not wanted to sell me fish and tell me because I purchased heaters my tanks weren't warm and i needed to wait until they were installed. This manager was assuming I didn't already have heaters. They were back up heaters, thanks. Also I said if the heating was the issue it does not explain why he wouldn't sell me feeder fish, he made that a reason i couldnt mix the fish because one was cold water one was warm water (this was after i already told him i have 2 tanks, listening is hard). She said we are talking about cichlids, I said no he refused to sell me both kinds of fish. I believe both these managers need to listen before they make judgements and comprehend a conversation before they say things that do not make any sense. Both were just trying to find reasons, and Valerie was trying to back up a manager that made a poor decision instead of trying to make it right. I know retail is hard to staff right now but this can not be the only people to do management at this store. Their comprehension skills are sub par. Their judgemental skills are above and beyond.
