Sisters weekend away March 22, 2024Party of 8 for 2 nights. The first thing I noticed upon arrival at the lodge was the strong odor in the lobby. A couple of us were physically sick from the odor... Me being the worst affected. I was gasping for air and coughing. We did complain about this and were given a phone number. We were told it was something (white thyme) being pumped through the ventilation. We called the number and left a message but nobody ever returned our call.We had two regular rooms and a suite. The showers in the suite were very awkward to use being that you had to step into the shower to turn on the water and were instantly hit with cold water. There was no way to avoid this. Although the shower had two separate shower heads, you could not alternate between the two.The breakfast buffet was very mediocre. I've had Continental breakfasts at cheap hotels that were better. The wait staff however, was wonderful! The Keurig in our room was not working and it took a few calls to get a replacement... But we did finally get one that worked. We were not able to use the pool or indoor hot tub throughout our visit. There were men there repairing the problem but apparently could not get it fixed. It was ice cold... even the hot tub.We had a great weekend despite the problems we had, but personally I would not stay there again.

We stayed at the cottages at The Lodge and really enjoyed them. They were perfect for our family and we enjoyed the view SO much!! We could hear the sound of the waves with the windows and door closed. It was a refreshing little getaway and they do a great job keeping the property up to date.

Outstanding setting on the shores of Lake Erie; beautiful Lodge; well-maintained inside and out; great amenities; easy to enjoy yourself completely without leaving the Lodge, but if you venture out, the number of wineries and restaurants to visit is incredible!Noteworthy details: The view of Lake Erie is stunning, and the grounds and walking paths make it so enjoyable to spend some time outside, regardless of the weather. The indoor pool and whirlpool are such great features and so well maintained.

We showed up at 9pm at the horizon bar to get food and a beer.(we had a room at the lodge) The waiter took awhile to show up and when he did said “you want food”. After we placed our order and asked for a beer he denied us getting a beer. Said we had did a wine tour with lodge previous (that ended at 3:30pm) and told us he would not let us have a beer.We complained to the front desk but to no avail nothing was done. We had many hours between our tour and they automatically judged us. Did not feel welcome. Will never come back again

We had a group doing the wine tour for a birthday. When we got back to the hotel we had plans to eat dinner and grab drinks at the bar in the hotel until close. The entire point of a wine tour and staying at the hotel is not to worry about driving anywhere and being able to stay safe while having some drinks. Sadly one of our group members was denied a beer at the bar and cut off immediately upon entering the bar. He had done nothing to show he was intoxicated and shouldn’t be allowed to consume alcohol. We were told that he stumbled coming into the hotel from the bus and had slurred his speech. In long conversations with him, I never observed anything like this. He had his child and wife with him for dinner, so it was very embarrassing for him in front of his child, especially when there were several people there far more intoxicated than him still being served. I understand needing to make sure people don’t overindulge, but a place that advertises drink and come stay here, should at least have valid reasons for cutting someone off. I also found it funny that we all went to the hot tub when he was kicked out which is highly dangerous for someone who they deemed was clearly intoxicated and they had no issues with that as they saw us all in suits going there. That was a lot of money spent from all of us to have our evening ruined by awkwardness and one member not being allowed to continue in the fun of the evening. I know that we weren’t the only ones with someone in our large party cut off so keep that in mind when deciding if it is worth it to pay all this money to drink responsibly and then be prevented from even doing that. Also, we are all in our 40’s plus so this was not a bunch of young people going out and getting trashed.
