MBR is wonderful - I can't recommend them enough. I've had the opportunity to foster some really great dogs, and adopted my amazing dog, Tugboat through MBR. They do so many great things for the dogs in their care, and have such a breadth of knowledge when it comes to matching the right dog with the right family.

The fact that 238 of 239 reviews (at the time of this writing) are 5 star tells you everything you need to know about this amazing organization. Like any group it starts at the top and it’s no different with this rescue. Amy, Sarah and the rest of the team are sympathetic, empathetic and INCREDIBLY knowledgable. We have been fortunate to have been rescued 3 times by dogs they had rescued. We have a Bulldog that was deemed “disposable” by previous owners due to her age (we’ve had her 5 or 6 years) and a couple of Bully breeds that were surrendered as puppies. Amy took the time to meet us, meet our other dogs and in her “animal first” approach guided us to the right dog for our situation which hasn’t always been the dog we originally showed interest in. It’s very important to note that she and her team are ADAMANT that everything possible is done to match the correct dog with the correct family and evidently some people struggle to wrap their brains around that simple concept. The other thing to be aware of is that she runs a NON-PROFIT rescue who’s goal is to save as many animals as possible, this is not cheap, it’s not easy and it sure the hell isn’t for the faint of heart. When you rescue from them the money goes towards the collective rescue. You are helping pay for the seniors, the broken or the undesirables and it’s safe to say that whatever the cost of adopting is, doesn’t cover the cost of getting that dog to the point of rescuing its new owner. Adopting from a rescue is incredibly rewarding because you aren’t just adopting, you’ve saved the life of an animal that more than likely would have been put to sleep, you’ve rescued a dog that has never, in many cases, been loved or appreciated and most importantly, it’s one less dog bought through backyard breeders or puppy mills. All animal rescues provide an amazing service, Multiple Breed and all of its incredible volunteers stand out as one of the best among a group of truly amazing people who collectively run all of the rescues in Ohio and other states.

I’m a foster and volunteer with Multiple Breed Rescue, and it’s been such a rewarding experience. The team goes above and beyond for every dog — they’re organized, compassionate, and truly dedicated to each animal’s wellbeing.
I’ve seen firsthand how much care goes into every adoption and how supportive they are of fosters and volunteers. Multiple Breed Rescue is an incredible group of people doing amazing, life-changing work and making sure all dogs go the best fit furever home!. I highly recommend supporting them in any way you can!

The dedication shown by this rescue is extraordinary. Every animal is treated with genuine love and compassion, and it’s clear how deeply the volunteers and staff care about their mission. The number of happy endings they’ve created from heartbreaking beginnings is a true testament to their hard work and devotion. 🫶

*edited* VERY DISAPPOINTED!! screenshots attached.
We were genuinely excited to apply to adopt through this rescue and fully respect that not every applicant will be chosen. However, what was disappointing was the lack of professionalism and consistency in communication throughout the process.
After completing a detailed application and providing leasing information, we were told we could not adopt because we rent — a policy that was never mentioned anywhere prior to applying. When I kindly expressed my frustration about this lack of clarity, instead of receiving a professional response, I was met with an email referring to my partner as having an “adult temper tantrum,” which felt unnecessarily personal and disrespectful.
Additionally, the public comment left under our review stated that our apartment “wouldn’t be a good home for an Australian Shepherd,” even though we already have one thriving in our home. This completely contradicted the email explanation about a “no-puppy-to-renters” policy, leaving us confused and concerned about the inconsistency. The founder, Amy, also left a comment on a facebook post saying the emails we sent back were “Nasty”. I have attached them below to show that it was not nasty on our end.
The email also included unprofessional remarks about other rescues, comparing them as “less than” this one — which was surprising and disappointing to hear from an organization that should be focused on collaboration and compassion.
We aren’t upset that we weren’t chosen to adopt; we understand these decisions are made thoughtfully. Our concern is with how communication was handled — the tone, contradictions, and lack of transparency. Professionalism, empathy, and consistency go a long way in representing an organization’s mission and ensuring that even declined applicants feel respected.

After adopting our pup from multiple breed rescue we decided to try a fostering and failed.... In a good way. We couldn't be happier! I love that they make sure to find the best fit for both dogs and families. Their volunteers and board members have been extremely supportive.

Multiple Breed Rescue goes above and beyond for dogs in need. Our dog would've been put down due to a broken leg if a rescue hadn't stepped up. We started fostering for them after we adopted and they are supportive and compassionate. They have the dogs best interest in mind with every decision they make.

The absolute best! We rescued my border Collie/heeler mix from Multiple Breed Rescue in 2019. I can't say enough wonderful things about Amy and the MBR team. These are people that care so much about the dogs. They are well kept, fosters are reputable and trusted. The volunteers go above and beyond to care for the dogs. The requirements and applications are thorough and well checked. We have continued to attend events and support this rescue so they can thrive and give these high energy intelligent pups the ultimate chance at well deserved life. They continue to grow, expand and put their all in for the dogs. Highly recommend

We adopted our loveable, goofball, black lab from Multiple Breed Rescue and couldn't be happier! ❤️ He was a mess when he first arrived with them, but they got him the care he needed prior to placing him with us. Their application process is no joke. They double check everything on potential adopters before approving them and always ensure each pet is a good fit for their furever family beforehand. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to adopt!

Best rescue we have ever went to! We drove from Michigan to get one of their rescues. Best dog ever! We always have adopted rescues - 6 over all - and this was the best adoption we ever had. It was not oh here's the dog. They really check all in your background to make sure these babies go to a good home. Since that day follow them, try to donate when I can because what they do is life changing for the dogs and people. The lives they have saved still amazes me with a volunteer network that I have never seen - and I work with grassroots non-profits. All I can say is thank you for your dedication and saving so many dogs who would not have a chance without you!
