Today was one of the hardest days we’ve ever had as a family. Our precious Golden required life saving surgery and finding care and weighing our options was hard. I can’t speak highly enough about the grace and gentleness from the staff. It was our first experience at a vet that didn’t leave us feeling like they wanted every penny possible. There was no way to make today easier but they did stoop down to our level and not rush us or guilt us for trying to find the best solution for our boy which is all we could ask for. In the midst of the pain and shock we are so thankful for their support.

I would give zero stars if possible. (First a little background information on my dog. He is highly stressed out coming to the vet we give him medication the night before and day of his appointment.) They offered us a 6pm appointment soonest they could get him in, we asked if it was going to be an issue coming in that late and was told no. I take our dog there, he’s fine at first, very out of it due to medication. They weighed him then go back to the room, he’s still doing okay. As soon as the second vet walked in he was anxious. (They skipped the actual exam, checking his ears, temp, stuff like that.) They start investigating the reason we’re here, a bump that’s on my dogs side. They needed to collect samples of the bump he has to have it tested which in order to do that they need to take a needle and move it all around inside his skin. It wasn’t happening. They said he needs to be sedated, which they couldn’t at that time because it was the end of the day and were short staffed. (Again, asked if this would be an issue) I’m thinking since they weren’t able to give him an exam and they were the ones who didn’t have the staff to do what was needed. I wouldn’t be charged for that visit. Wrong. They charged me for a full exam and said it was due to me taking up the their time. This happened on a Tuesday. Reached out Wednesday asking for them to take the money paid and apply to the next appointment since this isn’t right. It’s not a good way to do business. The woman at the front desk compared it to taking your car to a mechanic, even if they don’t find the issue, you still have to pay. But said she would have a manager call us. Which is asinine. A mechanic would at least examine the car first. They did absolutely nothing but weigh him. That’s not an exam by any means. We wait for the call.. never happens. We reach out again Thursday (because we have the rescheduled appointment for Friday and needed to know if our dog needed drugged or not. We’re canceling the appointment if they didn’t correct the issue) they said a manager would be in touch, we never got the call. We gave our dog his medication just in case, call again Friday, day of his new appointment trying to see what’s going on and they said again, a manager will call us but insisted on us to come in with our dog for the appointment and just figure things out then. Absolutely not. So we keep waiting for this manager to call us and now, at this point there’s 30min until his appointment so my boyfriend drives up there to see what’s going on with this garbage fire they call an office, finally speaks to the manager, he never apologized for our experience or for the lack of communication. He did absolutely nothing to correct the situation. Which shows they were trying to get us out there with our dog, knowing they weren’t going to credit our last visit, just to get more money out of us. So now we have our dog drugged up for no reason and have to find a new vet last minute. This is this the only vet we’ve used for years and they have now lost a loyal customer over this. They knew my dogs temperament and should have known that if he needed drugged just to have his ears cleaned, then he probably should have been sedated for a procedure that requires him to be ABSOLUTELY still while they wiggle a needle in his skin. In my opinion, I set my appointment, told them what was wrong with my dog they have a whole file on him, they should have been prepared or if not, shouldn’t have charged us for the visit. If I knew they were going to shove a needle in him and wiggle it around I would’ve told them he needed more than the usual medications but at the same time that’s their job to know/think about things like this. If you’re considering taking your animal here I suggest you reconsider.

I used to love this place for my pets but the quality of care the last couple times has been sad. I tried to call for pricing on my newest addition and that seemed to be too much of an issue huffing and no accurate pricing.

Anna is awesome!!! She helped me get my dog scheduled rather quickly (for an injury as a new patient) and then, found an appointment even sooner because she was worried about infection!! I got called into work and had to have a friend take my dog into appt and Anna then called and let me know everything that happened… Top notch customer service! Ive been looking relentlessly for a great, CARING, loving vet for my pets and I think I’ve FINALLY found them!! Keep up the great work! Will be seeing you all again very soon! Additional note: my friend said the doc and vet techs were also exceptional! Thank again!

Dr.Coe and her staff have excellent communication with each other and with their clients. They make me feel like a top priority with every interaction. Dr.Coe even stayed late to send me a quote so that I felt comfortable with my upcoming appointment. This place is top notch professional, efficient, and thorough.

We have been bringing our Chocolate Lab to refugee since 2013. In the beginning the care and service was top notch. Our lab has epilepsy and thyroid imbalance. Within the last 3 years this place has turned into a product pushing take your money mill with no concern about your pets health. They will always tell you the diagnosis is Allergies, different doctor and staff every visit, no prophylactic care offered. This place is extremely expensive for lack luster care. Take your animal to another vet!

When I brought my 19 year old cat Jinx to Dr. Coe he had been barely eating, bleeding out of his mouth and not cleaning himself. A DIFFERENT VET OFFICE was insensitive and told me jinx has cancer without testing. Dr. Coe was amazing and gave me options on what could be going on with jinx, I decided not to put him through the blood testing, she was very supportive of my decision and sensitive to how I felt, she still gave jinx anti-biotic and it has helped him so much. He is eating regularly again, cleaning himself and in a great mood and has been about the house more. I am so thankful I brought jinx here, had I not things could have taken a turn. I don’t know how much longer I have with him but I’m thankful she helped bring more quality to his life!! He looks so good in these pictures compared to a couple days ago. Thank you!! I will be bringing my other cats here for good!

From our very first visit, to our most recent visit, those working at Refugee Canyon have been exceptionally helpful! They're kind, positive and incredibly comforting when it comes to concerned pet owners. My family and I have truly appreciated all they have done for us since day one. We drive up from Zanesville each visit and it's always worth it! I whole heartedly trust them with our pets.

They are the best! Staff is caring and well trained. We always feel welcome and are treated with respect. The vets are willing to explain conditions and give options. I have pets and farm animals. I love that I can go to one place for everyone.

Wow, this vet is awesome! One of my cats had a hematoma in her ear and my normal vet couldn't get her in for days. I called Refugee Canyon and they were able to get me an appointment first thing the next morning. The receptionist helped ease my concerns and was very knowledgeable. Our appointment went very smoothly. We walked in and headed directly into a room. The vet assistant was very nice as we were going over initial paperwork. The vet, Andrew Sattler, was amazing. He listened to what I had to say and was not pushy on any services. He understood we wanted to try the low-cost route first. He also appreciated that we as pet parents were realistic. He was fantastic with my cat, who had never been to a vet and who doesn't really like people. I felt so much better after this appointment. Will definitely keep going to Refugee Canyon for all my pet needs.
