I went on the website to order 50 helium-filled balloons. The website claimed that it would only ship 20 balloons in a transaction, so I ordered 20 balloons to be delivered, and I ordered 30 balloons to be picked up in the store. I came by the next morning and picked up the 30 balloons. The girl who gave me the balloons was questioning Why there were two separate orders and I told her that the website claimed it would only deliver 20, and I couldn’t fit all 50 in my car, so I wanted to pick up 30 and have 20 delivered. She said she understood. An hour later a third-party driver delivers 20 flat balloons in a bag. I called Michael’s and asked the manager about it, she said there was some confusion about it, and that I should just bring them back over and she would blow them up for me. I took the 20 balloons to the store and met the manager at the front. I showed her on my phone where it says that I requested 20 helium filled balloons to be delivered, and I told her about the conversation that I had just had an hour ago with the girl at the counter. She said she wanted to go get the balloons filled up so I could go so she excused herself and walked away. After the balloons were blown up, she walked in the opposite direction away from me and left me with the Cashier again. I asked the Cashier if there was anyway I was gonna get some kind of compensation for this, since they are the ones who screwed up my order, and now I’ve wasted 45 minutes round-trip on picking this second order up, and I had to pay an $8 DoorDash fee. She radioed Kelly, the manager, who replied with there is nothing they were gonna do for me. I asked the cashier if I could at least get an $8 gift card to cover the $8 delivery fee that I had to pay for, and after she called Kelly again on the radio, Kelly instructed her to tell me to call 1-800-Michael’s.
The lack of customer service that I was shown at this location today on Hilliard Rome Road, in Hilliard, Ohio, has left me very frustrated. There’s no way in the world I should be stuck with an $8 delivery fee when Michael’s sent the wrong thing and I had to come over there and wait for these things to get blown up. Not only did they just lose a customer for life,, I will never purchase another thing from any Michaels for my job as long as I work there again, and we purchase a lot of things for office decor, office boards, seasonal decorations, break room decorations, challenges, and poster board for different departments. I will go the extra distance to Hobby lobby, before I ever step foot in Michael’s again. Manager Kelly, at the Hilliard Rome Road location, should’ve refunded me the $8 for a delivery fee on a service that I didn’t receive, on a blunder that her store was clearly responsible for.
