“I have never had to go back and change my review of a hotel before. However, in the ensuing time since I wrote the original review, this hotel has gone downhill. Their general manager Left for what I can only presume was having to deal with the owners. The lady who has replaced the general manager, Renee remains incredible. Without her. This place would have shut down long ago. There are a couple of other great employees here. However, there are a number of employees that aren't close to any type of standard you would hire for your own company. Fait is one of those employees. The attitude that she has with customers is beyond the pale. I have never seen an employee get away with yelling at a customer who was not being hostile to them.
Breakfast at this hotel is a constant problem. The breakfast area is a dirty mess and the food is cold. This is not just a one-off incident but rather a repeated problem over many months.
Additionally, the condition of the rooms is subpar for a Holiday inn Express. The conditions of the rooms are closer to what I would expect at a quality inn.
All in all, I've changed my review to reflect the declining service and quality that I've experienced over months at this hotel from when the initial review was written.
I'm leaving the initial review below so that everybody can see how much this hotel has changed due to mismanagement or general lack of management caring.

--------this is a good hotel. Quiet. Good location, not located against a highway or anything else loud. The insulation between floors and between rooms is very good.
Rooms are well cleaned. Staff is friendly and well managed by Brian, the gm.
The only thing that keeps it from five stars is maintaince. Things in the rooms work, but little things like caulking etc could be improved. Would give 4.75 if it was an option. Nike if that however prevents me from staying nor should it you. I would recommend highly”

“Older property that's starting to show its age, especially in the hallways. The rooms are all nice and updated though. There's another elevator and exit near the high numbered rooms, so you don't have too much of a hike.
The Concierge lounge is nice and has a decent continental breakfast, but the people here are really what make the hotel. Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly, it makes it a pleasure to stay here if we're in the Dayton area.”
“Holiday Inn in Fairborn is a great oasis to relax in.
The front desk service is excellent and the staff are solid sources for places to go and eat!

“The staff was very helpful, courteous and pleasant to deal with. The room we had was was a good size and the two queen beds were appreciated as my wife and I needed some rest prior to traveling for 24 hours to the EU.
All areas we encountered were clean and well taken care off. The bathroom had excellent water pressure.
The mattress was just a bit too soft for us, but that is a personal preference. We still had a peaceful sleep and felt refreshed the next morning.
The only suggestion for IHG is to add a few vegan options to your breakfast offering. Even just margarine for the bagels would be great. Also, you need to change the water filter cartridge on the coffee machines/supply lines. We tasted chemicals, mostly chlorine, in our coffee/tea.”

“My family and I stayed here on our way to North Carolina. We had never been to Dayton before. This hotel was in a great location. Very clean and safe feeling. The room was clean and AC worked great. We took our kids to the pool which they very much enjoyed. We did hear some doors slamming around the midnight hour. Continental breakfast was what you would expect but our kids loved it. When staff were asked for more towels and forks in the morning they were happy to help. We are glad we chose this hotel for our stopping point during our long drive!”
“Darling Vintage Motel, But Some Comfort Issues
I absolutely loved staying at this charming vintage 1950s motel! The outside of the building has maintained that classic vintage look, and it's so nostalgic. The rooms, however, have all been updated, which was a bit of a disappointment if you're hoping for a fully retro experience. That said, the bathrooms were a lovely throwback to the past, keeping the cute retro vibe intact.
The motel was immaculately clean, and it was clear the owners care about maintaining the property. The décor was cozy, and it was a fun, unique place to stay.
However, there were a couple of issues that affected my overall experience. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It felt like the mattress had been worn down over the years, with a noticeable dip in the middle, making it hard to sleep. Unfortunately, we woke up each morning with pain, which lingered throughout the trip.
Another issue was the shower. The water pressure was very low, and the hot water never got above lukewarm during our entire stay. On the last morning, it was just ice-cold, making it impossible to shower. Since the motel is nonstaffed with contactless check-in/check-out, and the phone number for assistance is only available between 9 AM and 9 PM, we couldn't get help with the issue during our stay.
Overall, it was a charming experience, but these comfort issues kept it from being perfect. If these problems were addressed, this place would easily deserve 5 stars….I really wanted to give 5 stars ?”
“Stopped here after traveling 11 hours. Beds were super comfortable, rooms were clean, and breakfast had plenty of hot options and also carried many dairy free options like oatmilk and soy which I appreciated. Staff was very friendly especially Valencia. You can tell she really loves her job and helping people.”
“I attended the colorguard competition this past weekend. The convention center was SO nice … as was the competition being held there. The parking garage was attached with a covered walk way. BONUS The place spotless and workers were beyond friendly.”

“The Hope Hotel is a nice, but older style, hotel connected to Wright Patterson AFB. I have to disagree with most of the negative review as we were there last week for a Phan Rang AB Vietnam Reunion and found it comfortable. The staff always went beyond expectations to assure our needs. Thank you so much!”
