bare with me this might be a little long. I was born with an eye disease called Pigment Dispersion Syndrome. It is a common type of open-angle glaucoma which is relatively underdiagnosed. It is characterized by the spontaneous dispersion of pigment granules from the pigment epithelium of the iris, which gets deposited in the anterior segment. Mostly common in those with dark eyes this pigment will slow down the natural flow of the fluids in the eye and if not treated it will cause nerve damage and possibly blindness. I have seen a specialist for this since I was a young child and I was seeing one when I came to Dr. Jankowski OD to get my contact lenses and glasses. At first it was a great relationship. He really knew his stuff and had a great personality. Keeping track of my pressures and monitoring the disease. Pressures were always good and when I reported to my specialist every 6 months the report was also good. But as time went by Dr Jankowski OD started recommending me to try other medicines and to see his specialist. I kindly said no, I have been with this specialist almost 15 years and I like them. Something happened. Not sure what it was but out of nowhere Dr. Jankowski OD said he was no longer going to check my pressures since I am going to the specialist anyway. So why does his website say he monitors pressures if he is not going to do it? The last visit he actually checked them but did not give them to me. He then prescribed me a prescription for my contacts that was not the right prescription. once I got them they are blurry and has not corrected my vision. They are multifocal and I still have to wear reading glasses with them. He also said in passing I had cataracts, Not bad he said but enough to monitor. I went to my specialist concerned about the cataracts and discovered. There are no cataracts. My specialist checked them twice after I told her what Jankowski said. Nope she said, No cataracts. My pressures are fine and nothing has changed in the eye to be concerned with. Jankowski put a fear in my heart that needed not be there. His manor had changed to being extremely rude and non-caring. He is a liar or he dose not know what cataracts are. Opticians are technicians who fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision-correcting devices. Optometrists examine, diagnose, and treat patients' eyes. Ophthalmologists are eye doctors who perform medical and surgical treatments for eye conditions and specialize in eye diseases. You need both an Optometrist and an Ophthalmologist if you have any type of eye disease. It is a perfect world when they work together to help your eyes stay healthy. Dr. Jankowski is an Optometrist. I do not understand the deception nor do I understand why it bothers him so much that I am seeing a specialist. But I will never see him again. I recommend that when he starts suggesting different medicines or you have a cataract. See someone else.
