“We were in the area for a family vacation. I'd hoped to visit another orchard that specialized in heirloom apples, but they were closed for the season. Loaded up the family and made the drive to Laurelville Fruit instead. Arrived on a rainy Sunday afternoon to find a surprisingly busy business!
It's a refreshingly old school experience there. Nothing fancy or upscale boutique. They have a good variety of apples available, cider, and cider slushes. Cash or check. The space is unheated, good for the apples, and it's on you to dress for the weather.
Ended up purchasing slushes for the kids, a gallon of cider, and a couple bags of apples. Both apples were very good, which is something ultimately beyond the control of the grower. None the less, very satisfied.
To wax on a bit. One of the apples varieties I bought at Laurelville was a bag of Melrose. Being from Wayne County, and having bought many apples from the long defunct Melrose Orchard, it was a bit of a homecoming.
Now, if it were possible, I'd ding Laurelville half a star on their checkout. Despite my trying I cannot in hindsight come up with the same total that I paid. At least verbalizing the bill would help with customers peace of mind, instead of just offering a total due.”
