About The Nord Center
The Nord Center is a non-profit community mental health center serving Lorain and Huron Counties since 1947, providing services to about 7,000 people annually. It offers a wide range of support, including core mental health services, crisis and suicide prevention, supportive housing, and sexual assault and trauma response. The center is a central hub for mental health and substance abuse treatment in the area and operates 24/7 for emergency crisis, housing, sexual assault, and trauma services. Many clients appreciate the caring staff and the effort to help them improve their mental health, with some highlighting dedicated counselors who have made a positive impact. The center also assists with practical needs such as food stamps, employment, workman's compensation, and housing vouchers. However, some find it difficult to reach staff due to high demand and being understaffed, despite working in a newer building with many available services. Overall, The Nord Center is valued for its comprehensive care and community support.
