For years been a satisfied customer of Friends & Family Credit Union, especially love the fraud department since has caught & stopped 2 fraudulent activities to my checking account saving withdrawals of over $1000.

I use the main office as my credit union on Erie St. Massillon. Everybody that I have dealt with have been outstanding. If I have a question about anything about my accounts they are very happy to help me. The cashiers are just great. I like this credit union, we need more people like the ones who work there. This institution is a joke! No customer service what so ever. Stopped in at the branch on 21. At least 7 employees in the building. Apparently only one that could take care of opening checking/savings accounts. This person was occupied. Left and came back later only to discover the person that handles opening accounts was gone by 2:30 and no one else could open accounts. Was told to go to another branch out of my way. Tried calling the only number listed for all three branches and got a recording on every department. Tried calling all three branches at various times for three days and got the same thing......no human. Finally, called and reported a stolen card even though I am not even a member, and lo and behold, got a human. Explained to this woman the situation and was wondering is there any other number that I could call to speak with someone about opening up an account by phone instead of running all over town. She said she would connect me over to member services, of which I had a feeling she was going to accidentally-on-purpose disconnect me. And that is exactly what she did. After all that effort and no one giving two hoots, the place is not for me. You would think the credit union would be interested in businesses and/or individuals that could bring them funds besides chump change, but, obviously not. The only reason I gave them 1 star is because the computer would not allow me to post this unless I selected a star!

I would never recommend this credit union to anyone. After four years of having a car loan there, they've decided I don't have sufficient insurance. Threatening to charge me $300, and need me to backdate my insurance for several months. My insurance company tells me this is impossible to do. I've had so many issues with this credit union, it's ridiculous. Please, take your money elsewhere, like I intend to do. Their customer service is terrible! Anytime there's an issue, it's not their fault, it's yours! Rude people work there. Have never found a helpful person there ever. Can't wait to close out all my accounts there and move on to a real bank. Worst experiences ever!

I do not know why the other reviews are so negative. The people I dealt with at the Erie street location have been courteous and have helped when I asked them questions. I have come from another credit union that did not have any checking or ATMs so getting money was a pain and could only be done during business hours. The auto loan I got was at a great rate and the person who handled it, Holly, was friendly and professional. I would recommend this credit union to others.

Omg I can't understand why anyone would remain at this credit union. ATM machines constantly " CANNOT READ MY CARD". when you call them to speak to someone THEY ARE ALL BUSY! I ordered a replacement debit card a MONTH ago......STILL NOT HERE! The first lady I spoke with didn't order it as she said she did, 2wks go by and I have no card! I make a trip in AGAIN to the Erie St location and find out MY CARD WAS NEVER ORDERED!! Tomorrow marks ANOTHER 2wks of waiting and guess what, STILL NO CARD! I'm leaving this place and I've joined a "REAL BANK" ! Being new to living in Massillon has been a real eye opener for ALL NEGATIVE reasons! So wish I had bought my house NOT in Massillon!! For 25 yrs I was a member at the Strasburg Savings Bank. THAT place is staffed and in by awesome people, when you call them THEY ANSWER and have the time to "GIVE SERVICE" to their customers. Isn't that why they work there? SERVICE is NOT available at Friends & Family Credit Union!

I have been a member of this credit union for over 12 years. There loan rates are what keep me there, as with many credit unions you will find this a great feature compared to big banks. With that being said there's a downside to credit unions like this one. The access to your money is definitely an issue. Look forward to ATM charges. If you travel they won't have local ATM's since the are only located in Massillon. That was a serious downside as I moved from that area and still have my account in Massillon. This creates a real issue if I need to deposit cash or get cash. Especially since I work during their business hours and cannot get there before they close. Their ATM is shut down at times due to fraud. They don't usually answer the phone line so if you live a distance you might have to go there to talk to a person. Another huge issue is there frequent issues with fraud. My card has been closed many times without notice due to their frequent issues with fraud. So when you go to buy food or gas your card will get declined and you are there scratching your head to why your card won't work. Other times it a PIN number use only, but your not notified of this either. I was on vacation getting groceries years ago and my card was declined. I couldn't figure it out. It was a weekend and I had to wait till Monday to call and get an answer. No food in another state!!! I had no other cards to use! When I told Suzanne this she lectured me on having a credit card as back up. Then you have to wait almost two weeks to get a new card. Which makes it difficult for a person such as myself to try and get cash since I'm working during there business hours. Their fraud person-Suzanne- is less than kind in a response to your situation. I've deal with her multiple times and she told me that I just have bad luck. When I told her it's an inconvenience for me as a member and I had bills to pay she says, what exactly do you need to pay with a debit card? Not that it's her concern as it's my money, but there are a lot of things people pay with their debit/credit card from their bank. As I needed to pay for gas, food, and needed to pay for my BMV plates for three cars. Then she says use checks, which I'd have to pay for? Or I can get cash which cost gas money to get there and I'd have to leave work early, which means I'd have to use vacation time. Then if I didn't get enough I'd have to come back for more or I may need to return some if I took too much. Fraud=more money to pay out for the hard working tax paying but this place can't keep the fraud issue under control I've found the staff less than caring about there frequent issues with fraud that which is a serious disturbance to their members. When you bring this concern to the manger nothing gets done!!

Currently under construction, otherwise this ATM is usually broke down. It's even taken my money without giving me a receipt or a record of being deposited.
