My family and I have been taking our vehicles here since the mid 90’s and never had a problem. Until yesterday…
I took my truck in to have my radiator fixed because it was leaking, and to get an oil change. I dealt with Mario the entire time until my truck was ready to pick up. He called me the day I dropped it off to go over the cost and parts needed. Total should’ve been around $650 for parts and labor according to him. When I picked it up the next day, they said $950. When I asked why it was so much higher than what Mario told me, the guy behind the counter said they rotated the tires and flushed the system. Neither of these were talked about when I talked with Mario. The tires are only a month old and were put on by Consumer near the end of August. Why would I need them rotated so soon?? When I asked why they did this without telling me, they said that most people get a rotation when they get an oil change. So you do extra work without discussing it and then charge customer? Not today.
My family and I will never bring our vehicles there again.
Judging by some of these reviews, others have dealt with the same thing.

** I am updating my review to five stars because they went above and beyond taking care of my issue a year later and reaching out to me on Google reviews to let me know that I could bring it back in. The issues finally fixed and I am super satisfied.** Spent $2500 replacing my brakes and everything associated with them only to have my brakes make a horrendous squealing noise when applied. I took the car back three separate times and even took a video of the squeaking and every time they told me they didn't hear it even though there was a video and it never got fixed and they told me there was nothing they could do. A year later and my break still squeak and the dealership I took the car to told me they used cheap brake pads and they would need to replace them in order to stop the squeaking. I now hate driving a car I once loved.

Got a a nail in our rental car while on vacation. These guys fixed it in 20 minutes and we were back on our way. They were so kind, friendly and helpful.

Outstanding!! My five-year old car needed tire rotation and wheel alignment. They offered the best local price, and service was rendered and staff informed me of progress. They cleaned parts and returned them from findings on the alignment, and I left very pleased with the smooth ride and professional and pleasant treatment received for a good price. Will return for other services. Excellent results!!

I was informed by the employees during my appointment today that Consumer Tire is under new ownership as of the last few months. It’s very obvious to say the least. I’ve been coming to Consumer Tire for years but I may be rethinking that moving forward after today. It’s certainly not the same experience that I’m accustomed to. If the owners continue down this path, they’re going to lose a large part of the customer base the prior owners established. Let’s keep our fingers crossed the owners don’t make the mistake a lot of business owners do and not listen to their employees.

Consumer Tire (Mentor) should be your FIRST stop when shopping for tires. I purchased 4 sets in recent years, and my latest experience was the best yet ! Do yourself a favor and ask for Robert when you arrive. He’s friendly, knowledgeable, professional AND just helped us have hundreds of $$$ !!
He’s a pro’s pro, and a good man. 👍🏼 👍🏼

My family and I have been here quite a few times for many different reasons of our own doing, and the staff is always very friendly, helpful, and polite. I hope it continues to stay that way. I definitely would recommend.

Would not recommend Mentor City Tire which used to be Consumer Tire. We were overcharged for complete brake job at $1675. Dealer gave us estimates at least $300 less, unfortunately in hindsight. This business is not like the former Consumer Tire. Will not return.

My son needed new tires during his winter break from college. With my busy work schedule and his we had only one day to try to get his car in for this service somewhere local to us. I called many other places and they were booked up into the next week. At a friend's recommendation I called Consumer Tire in Mentor and talked to Chris. He was very helpful and kind and we discussed several different tire options that were economical to us. He verified the tires were in stock and told us to come in for service an hour from our phone discussion. Everything went smoothly and we really appreciated Chris's customer service to us!

When in mentor, I had an issue with my car,and there was Consumer Tire. Long story short, I was in and out in under an hour and saved big time.
I'm the hubber that brings the rubber.

I wanted to leave a review for an honest shop. Lived in Mentor my whole life and my father used to go to Consumer all the time. I went in for 4 tires and my dealership also told me I needed brakes. I actually set ut in motion to just do the brakes but they called me to tell me I didn't need them and I had good pad amounts left, and checked to make sure I didn't have any braking issues. It was a breath of fresh air, in this economy to have the term 'honest mechanic' really mean something. I appreciate Chris as he has been great this whole time as well and great with their communication. I would recommend you give these honest guys a chance to work on your car and know I will be back for the full brake repairs when needed. Thanks Consumer in Mentor!!
