We arrived late at night. The night staff was kind, helpful, and attentive to us. They took great care of our cat Samson (even though he just had a VERY expensive tummy ache.)

I'm not sure how I feel and hover between 2-3 stars. Ultimately, I went with 3 because nothing objectively bad happened and the specialist we saw was knowledgeable, even though the experience was less than ideal. We were sent to MedVet by our primary vet for Oncology, as we found a lump on our senior cat's face. We got in pretty quickly for an appointment with Dr. Back. They didn't examine the cat in your presence, which felt a little off putting for a primary exam. Afterwards, the vet didn't come back, and next steps weren't well explained by the tech. We were told that they would be able to do a biopsy with a local anesthetic. We were also given the option to have an echocardiogram done that would allow for her to have a CT scan, but that this wasn't necessary. When planning next steps, there were extra services we hadn't covered with the vet, including labs and a chest X-ray. We asked about necessity and were under the impression that the X-ray was to determine if the cancer had spread. We were primarily there to diagnose whether or not the lump was cancer in the first place. Given it's location, it was thought to be inoperable, and we had already resigned ourselves to palliative care as prognosis would be poor, so we didn't understand the purpose of the X-ray. We asked about costs and we're quoted some numbers which were quite costly. We then asked for a breakdown because it wasn't adding up. This took some doing, but they did as asked and would review at home before calling back to schedule. We decided for now that we just wanted the biopsy. The X-ray would cost over $400 and we thought it was optional. So, we called and told them we wanted to do the blood/urine panel (even though she'd had this done a few months prior) and the biopsy. We told them we didn't want to do the X-ray until we understood if the lump was actually cancer. We dropped her off in the morning, believing she was having a biopsy. Around noon, the vet called and told us her labs and X-ray were mostly normal, though showed an enlarged heart given her age and a known condition. This is when we were informed she wasn't even having a biopsy. Ultimately, we spent $1K+ on a lab she had just had and an X-ray that ended up being pointless. She then told us that in order to do the biopsy, they'd have to get the echocardiogram so they could put her under, which wasn't what we were told. She was apologetic that we misunderstood, though I don't see how that is, as we went to MedVet for an echo and biopsy and were told that we could do the biopsy under local. It was very concerning that we dropped off our pet with no idea what was happening and that the vet could do whatever they wanted without our permission when this wasn't an emergency. This lack of communication was not acceptable and cost us money needlessly. When we came to pick her up, Dr. Back told us upon further exam she believed the tumor was likely squamous cell carcinoma, given its size and some other findings. I question why this wasn't done before the x-ray, if the purpose of the X-ray was to clear for biopsy and now we don't even the need the biopsy?!! While I don't lack confidence in her experience, empathy and bedside manner left a bit to be desired. Maybe I'm sensitive, but it kind of seemed like the vet wanted it to be cancer not in some sinister way, but in the way that someone who is an expert in a specific field is fascinated by it. In lieu of a biopsy, we were offered a needle aspirate again, which may or may not diagnose. We decided to do that but left with the understanding that our cat had cancer. We got some meds to manage palliative care at home and a brief summary of what to expect, though no web links or other pieces of info or a clear timeline. We got a call the next day confirming presence of squamous cells and that was that. Surgery isn't an option and prognosis is poor even with chemo pill or radiation. For now, our cat still seems her usual self. We understand t

i absolutely would not recommend this place at all!!! Our dog had no appetite and wanting to drink a lot of water so we took her Tuesday morning at 3am during snow storm. I called ahead of time and and the staff was very friendly they said the initial a check up would be $153. Which I was OK with. The staff acted like on the phone that they would be able to get an ideal of what was wrong with her and didn't give me any other pricing of any other possible test that might be needed. Upon arrival they took her back got her vitals but they couldn't determine a treatment plan and requested an xray to possibly determine what was wrong with her after disclosing that the price would be $600 for one x-ray. I think it would've been nice if they could've disclosed any possible cost like x-ray. They also couldn't find out what was wrong with her and said we could leave her for 24 hours for $2800. We ended up having to take her home with no explanation and still had to pay the $153.00. When my veterinary clinic opened in my hometown we took her straight in they did x-rays bloodwork and everything for under $200 determined she had an infection in her uterus and needed immediate surgery but sadly she did not make it to the surgery . This probably could've been prevented if MedVet would've been more compassionate about their pricing or we would've not taken her there and wasted valuable time. She might still be here with us today :(

Our dog was extremely ill and our vet recommended MedVet. This was our first experience and we were concerned that we may lose our precious pup due her extreme illnes. The MedVet shared with us the initial test results they performed and gave us options in moving forward. We chose surgery and we are so glad we did. The surgeon was excellent in communicating what would occur and followed up with us after the surgery. He even suggested she come home a day early, as she would heal better at home. When we went to pick her up, it was like having our old girl back. Her tail was wagging and she was happy to see us. I would not hesitate to use MedVet again. The surgeon was a specialist for this surgery, which our typical vet could not have performed. We are so grateful for the staff and saving the life of our pup.

I wish I had read all these reviews before I entrusted my son's cat to these quacks. Our cat needed an operation and we were directed to one of two specialists. We made the mistake of choosing this one. After the operation, our cat would not eat or drink. They finally put in a feeding tube after our kitty had suffered for several weeks. In the end, they had waited too long and our kitty died - after over $8,000 in procedures. Don't go here!!!

The staff are truly outstanding. From the moment you call, walk-in, meet the tech at triage, and the doctors. You can feel their concern and commitment to the animals well-being. Most people don't show up to the pet hospital with good news. This team consistently finds a way to make you feel calmer knowing that you're in good hands. The doctor (MacAuly?) was incredibly thorough, had great bedside manner, and was so kind to our two dogs during their visit. We've been here 3 times now and have yet to have a negative experience. I would give the staff 15 stars if I could! Additionally, the facilities are clean, the staff are ALWAYS cleaning the floors, etc. There's good amenities like wifi, vending machines (that take credit cards!), and free coffee. From start to finish, we've always had positive experiences here.

I’ve been to MedVet four times over the last 15 years and I’ve never encountered people so devoted to pets as those who work tirelessly at MedVet Dayton. Can they be expensive? Yes. But unfortunately emergency healthcare is expensive for all in the US. Emergency animal care is emotionally draining and you don’t get rich doing it, yet the employees at MedVet have always treated us with kindness and compassion and spend plenty of time with us going over our cats healthcare plans. They saved our cats lives in three cases, and the fourth was unfortunately beyond care (blood clot in heart, nothing could be done). The latest patient was a poor beat up old guy who came to our door on Thanksgiving crying for help. He is already feeling much better after our visit. We’re so thankful.

I took my dog to the MedVet of Dayton with emergency. They took care of him. The staff was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Just be prepared, they will have a wait time. But just be patient and they'll get you and your pet situated as soon as possible. I would recommend for any emergency need it for your pet this would be a wonderful place. Especially on the normal Vet it's not open.

They have taken such good care of our little guy and truly handled the emergent situation calmly and professionally. Their orthopedic surgeon did a fantastic job on our boy's spinal surgery. Very thankful for their 24/7 hours too.

Sending my heartfelt thanks to MedVet and everyone there who helped me through losing my baby girl yesterday. I am very grateful to you all for treating me with such love and kindness. I also want to thank my new friend Jen that sat beside me all morning and hugged me on my way out. Thank you for being so kind even though your baby wasn't feeling well either.

BIG RED FLAG ?Upon arrival everyone was very friendly, the staff was overjoyed with my Bengal as he’s quite the charm. An hour or so into arriving we went over the treatment plan. I then had to go get the money for the procedure and I asked if I could leave him here as car rides stress him out and they said that I had to take him with me. During that ride he was so stressed he began to pee in the car, and if you know anything about cat pee, let alone my bengals pee, whewwww. Let’s just say that’ll be another couple hundred dollars to have the car detailed to TRY to get the smell out. However as soon as I returned with the $600 they said I was free to go until they called me back. When I returned the vet began to tell me that they did further treatment (without my consent, not even a phone call to confirm) and it was going to be almost $300 more than what the initial plan was. When I expressed my concerns and stood my grounds with the initial plan and price she became very nervous retracted her statements and said they would comp that since they failed to communicate that with me. When they brought my baby back I noticed the wrap was extremely tight, however I’m not an expert so I trusted that it would be fine… OH WAS I WRONG. The next morning his foot was triple the size it should have been, literally busting out of the extremely tight wrap that they put on him the night before. Crying worse than he was when I brought him in the first time. Not only did I have to call off work to get him back in there, they did confirm it was wrapped too tight to begin with. WITH THIS EXPERIENCE I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ???

About a week ago I had to rush my dog to MedVet due to being stung by a bee on his snoot. Even though we immediately removed the stinger and administered Benadryl within minutes, I wanted to be sure he was going to be okay and not have an allergic reaction that could be fatal. Upon arrival, I advised the staff what happened and that I just wanted to be sure he wasn't allergic or have a delayed reaction later, due to my dog's history suffering from allergies. They said he could be seen by their triage nurse/tech and then inform us how his vitals were and give an opinion if we need to go the entire route of a full exam and testing, etc. We waited for just a few minutes even though it seemed a little busy at the time, he was evaluated in the triage at which the nurse/vet tech informed that he was stable, all normal vitals, health and that we did the right thing. We discussed and decided to monitor him throughout the night since we were going to take him home. I figured they would charge just for the triage exam, and by the looks of facility I assumed it would be pricey, but they did not! This place treats animals better than humans have it at emergence facilities (seriously I'd go there). From a friendly staff, decent response time, sanitary and clean environment, and showed attention and kindness to my dog, Manning. Thank you very much for putting our minds at ease, especially when you fear the worst. Thanks!

4 stars because I didn't get to bring my puppy home, but no fault of theirs, she was hit by a car and her injuries were too great. They were great and helped me through this rough time.

The staff were incredibly kind and understanding! Super calming, super clear and informative, and incredibly fast. They took my cat back before I could even tell the receptionist my name! They gave me every detail about what they did, what they found, and even offered additional testing just in case. My cat turned out to be totally fine, but I'm so thankful for their incredibly fast and thorough help!! Worth the 45 minute drive there with an angry, howling cat in the backseat!

If I could give no stars, I would. After nearly four hours I left. During that time I never saw a doctor. My poor dog just continued getting worse. Save yourself a heartache, don't go here! Go to CareCenter instead, which is what I ended up doing.
